Rohnert Park is a city in Marin County, California, United States. The population was 27,824 at the 2010 census. It is located on the San Francisco Peninsula and shares borders with Sausalito to the north and east, Petaluma to the south and west, and Novato to the northwest. The area now known as Rohnert Park was first settled by Native Americans in 1777. A mission built in 1836 became known as Mission Dolores del Oro (Golden Olive) because of its rich gold deposits that had been discovered there. In 1853, John Cranch donated some of his land to become what is now Rohnert Park. The name changed again in 1876 when James Waugh bought land near present-day High Point Road for $2 per acre; he named it after his friend General George Armstrong Custer who had died in battle two years earlier. At first all of this land was used just for agriculture but later portions were developed into areas that include high-rise housing developments such as Rohnert Park Ridge and Pacific Heights. In 1905, President Theodore Roosevelt designated part of Marin County as "National Monument No., 9" including what is now Rohnert Park; this made it a part of the National Register of Historic Places which protects buildings and sites related to American history from being destroyed or neglected. In 1916, federal troops burned down part of an old military base at Mount Tamalpais while living nearby; this event led to protests against American involvement in World War I by local residents which continue up until today. The park began operations on October 1st, 1917 as Recreation Area No.; it officially became a city on December 3rd of that year with a population of 7,[1] although most people lived within walking distance until 1925 when BART opened along High Point Road making it possible for more people to get involved with city life without having to go farfetched distances inland each time something new happened like WANTED posters appeared next door begging anyone interested in joining forces put their hand inside! By 1927 there were over 100 businesses operating within walking distance from City Hall[2]. Today you can still find many small businesses closed down due primarily to lackadaisical attitude towards business regulation or density restrictions placed by zoning laws but overall we’re seeing some resurgence especially around downtown where retail options are becoming more available[3]. Accordingly we have seen not only growth but also progress over time with various amenities like arts & culture amphitheaters opening up throughout town center offering affordable tickets for events happening outside[4], new restaurants/bars popping up all over town center catering specifically towards young professionals looking for convenient nighttime dining options right near work or home etcetera etcetera etcetera creating quite a bit more opportunity than ever before simply because our constraints have actually evolved overtime instead of changing overnight
Rohnert Park was founded by Nicholas and Maria Rohnert in 1876. The park is located in the City of Oakland and includes over 2,500 acres of land. The park has a variety of recreational opportunities, including baseball, basketball, tennis, golf, horseback riding, and swimming/diving.
