Rohnert Park is a small town in Northern California, located about 25 miles east of San Francisco. The name comes from the Rohnert Vineyards, which are located in the town. The wine industry was important to the community and there are several wineries in the area. One of the most famous brands in Rohnert Park is Starbucks. The first coffee shop opened up in Rohnert Park in 1971 by two men named Gordon Biersch and Bob Evans. They set up a small operation out of their home and started selling coffee from their backyard table. In 1978, they opened an even smaller business called Kevin’s Coffee House on Market Street, which became well-known for its roasts and sandwiches made with heavy cream and bacon. Other early businesses that were popular in Rohnert Park include Fuzzy Wuzzy Pie Place (now defunct), Java Joes (now defunct), The KFC Ludwig Cafe (now defunct),and Dutch Bros., which is now closed down but still standing as a restaurant next to Safeway on Airport Boulevard

In 1893, when George Hearst bought the rancho using money from his father-in-law Randolph Hearst, he changed the name to Rohnert Park after himself and established a public park that included part of what is now Point Reyes National Seashore

The city of Rohnert Park, California was founded in 1859 by Captain George Armstrong Culp and his brother-in-law Samuel Beavers. The area that is now the city was first settled by Native Americans, who were until recently known as the Ohlone people. In 1847, Captain Culp discovered oil reserves near what is now Rohnert Park. The City of Rohnert Park was incorporated on December 12, 1858. The initial population of the city was only a few hundred people. However, over time the city grew rapidly due to its proximity to oil production and its status as a bedroom community for Los Angeles. By 1916, the city had reached a population of 30,000 residents and it became an important center for government and industry in Southern California. By 1948, with suburban development continuing to increase in southern California, Rohnert Park had reached its current size with a population of 100,000 people. Today, much of what made up early Rohnert Park has been preserved or restored thanks to efforts by local organizations such as the City Parks Foundation and the Friends of Rohnert Park Historic District. One example of this effort is the restoration of Armstrong Hall which was built in 1889 as part of Centennial celebrations for Rancho San Luis Rey (now Claremont). Other notable landmarks include: Horseshoe Bend park (1889), Healdsburg Golf Course (1912), Pacific Electric Railway Station (1926), Lighthouse Point lighthouse (1927), Masonic Temple (1928), Peralta Adobe Store & Restaurant (1930s), Redwood Library & Museum Complex (1976) and Coyote Hills Recreation Area (.8 mile long loop trail). Rohnert Park has always been an important center for culture in southern California. Not only did it serve as a bedroom community for Los Angeles during its formative years but it also hosted many major cultural events such as Hollywood's Academy Awards Ceremony in 1932 and West Coast Jazz Festival in 1957. Today there are many interesting museums located within easy walking distance of downtown Rohnert Park including: Pasadena Museum Of Art; Long Beach Museum Of Art; University OfCalifornia Press Museum; Orange County Register Museum; Huntington Beach State Historical Site; Goleta Valley Open Space Preserve
