In 1916, several members of the local Rifle Club founded a muzzleloader club with similar goals to help promote outdoor shooting opportunities for all interested individuals within town limits. This club would later become known as the Eastern California Rifle Association (ECRA). Rifle enthusiasts from throughout Northern California convened at various locations during World War I to compete in matches against each other across America. At one point, over 100 clubs participated in these competitions!

The city of Rohnert Park was founded on November 3, 1875 by John Sutter and his brother-in-law George Hearst as a small farming community east of Napa Valley. In 1876, the American Pacific Railroad extended from Sacramento to Rohnert Park and made it a convenient transportation hub for farmers in the area. The first post office was established in 1880. Rohnert Park is a small city in the Bay Area of San Francisco, California. The population was 80,752 at the 2010 census. It is located on the north shore of Mare Island and shares borders with Berkeley to the east and Hayward to the south. The park is named after General John C. Rohnert, who fought in World War II and served as Commanding General of United States Forces Europe. The first Europeans to visit what is now Rohnert Park were traders from Korea in 1642 mapping out what would eventually become Alameda County. In 1851, attorney George Law did a survey for Jardine & Hastings LLP which resulted in development of today’s downtown area including today’s Rohnert Park. On May 7, 1853, land was donated by Captain Francis Drake on Mare Island for a public park which became known as Golden Gate Park when it opened to the public on October 1st, 1854
