Rosemead, California is a small town in Kern County, California, United States. The population was 3,813 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Salinas–Tulare Metropolitan Statistical Area. Rosemead has a warm Mediterranean climate and its name means "rose garden". In 1919, when it first appeared on maps as "Rosenheim", it was because of the many roses that grew thereabouts. The town began to form in the early 1800s when families from near Los Angeles moved to what is now Rosemead. A post office called Rosemead was established in 1849, and remained in operation until 1907. As one of the few towns remaining with a German American majority throughout most of Kern County's history (the other being San Joaquin), Germans were very influential in local politics and society for many years. One of the most significant events in Roses' history occurred on October 1st 1948—the day that President Harry S Truman addressed a joint session of Congress at which he announced his intent to develop nuclear weapons using plutonium extracted from uranium mines guarded by U.S. Army General Dwight D Eisenhower's atomic forces stationed at Atomics Ordnance Plant Number 4 (AO-4). Roses residents responded enthusiastically to Truman's proposal and built two homes near AO-4 just east of town for their use during testing purposes only: these structures remain today as part of Rosenheim State Historic Park . 3,813 people live within an urbanized area including 2 million atop Interstate 5; agricultural production accounts for less than one percent of city’s economy

Rosemead is a small town in Inyo County, California. It is located on the eastern edge of the So Cal- Disneyland area. The population was 1,191 at the 2010 census. The first European to visit what is now Rosemead was Capt. John Parker in 1824. He called it "the little redoubt" because of its similarity to Redondo Beach, California. Captain Parker's party included members of the United States Exploring Expedition and part of Lt. David Montgomery's Company B of the First Regiment Los Angeles Volunteers who were moving south from final touches to build up a military base at San Diego when they first sighted Mount Whitney on March 14th, 1824 while exploring near present day Pasadena and made note of an extinct volcano (Mount Wilson) lying in their path about midway between that peak and Redondo Beach - thus naming their new discovery Mount Whitney after captain Parkers old geographic landmark! In 1847 A.D., following Wagon Wheel Ranch land grants given by Mexican Governor Pio Pico Chavez, JH Cofield founded a post office at present day Rosemead with mail delivered by stagecoach from Santa Barbara through Atchison Topeka and Topeka Junction before being stored at Green Valley for delivery to points west along today's Interstate 10 corridor including Sacramento and Denver. In 1863 A Dominguez family purchase 715 acres (269 ha) east side of current Main Street from Buchanan & Ryan for $600 per acre but no buildings were built until 1865 when Gouverneur Lewis Dodge donated his property which became known as Dodge City which incorporated as village in 1871 under territorial administration headed by Samuel Sitton (1811-1890). Present day Main Street runs north/south bisecting this original communal land grant blockade east/west just inside present dayRosemead limits whereupon development began with initial building Lots starting out around 1915/16 primarily used for agriculture produce storage or home construction during hey hey Gold Rush era when town boundaries changed multiple times due to gold discoveries nearby like Humboldt Bayou (.5 miles away), Spring Creek (.7 miles away), Mineral Hill (.8 miles away) etc...During World War II much Naval activity occurred surrounding USS Porter offshore Thoughts place oil refineries . . . finally 1945 local heard about atomic bombing raids over Japan so all shops closed abruptly leaving only few homes still standing across street from Post Office
