The Roseville National Guard was first organized on February 8, 1915. The Guard was then renamed the California National Guard on October 1, 1935. The Guard's current name is the Roseville Sheriff's Department National Guard. On September 9, 1945, President Harry S Truman ordered all U.S. Army and Air Force units to convert to the Reserve Officers' Training Corps (ROTC). As a result of this order, the California National Guardsmen were mobilized and became part of the ROTC program in Roseville. The first class of roseville national guard recruits graduated from Officer Candidate School in 1946 and were assigned to various units throughout Northern California as part of the Army/Navy/Air Force Transition Program which lasted until 1949. In 1951-1952 more officers completed their officer training at Fort Lewis near Seattle while also serving with the state military districts in Sacramento County and Placer County; these cadet classes were later absorbed into Regular Officer Training Corps at Fort Benning Georgia during 1957-1959 service transition period In 1954 when Operation Neptune's Spear began developing in Asia, many soldiers who had been drafted into active duty for that conflict returned home after completing their service obligation within one year or less than that time frame Roseville was one such city! Upon receipt of orders from headquarters asking for all reservists in area to report to local armories "immediately" for possible mobilization on September 2nd, 1945 there wasn't time for any civilians or businesses to prepare so upon arrival about 100 men hustled into Armistead Barracks complete with only singletons (trousers) and no helmets! After cooling off for a few days they reported back outfitted with our standard equipment including applejack bottles filled with water so we could drink while marchin' around town showin' off our new uniforms... needless to say it didn't go well On November 3rd 1945 there was another meeting held at Armistead Barracks where it was decided that everyone would be given a small bagpipes case each which they would take home with them once they got deployment orders This type of kitschy gift idea has been done by other nations during wars but I cannot think of anything else like it being done here It seems pretty cool if you ask me

The name of Roseville originated from two townsite meetings on November 3rd and 4th 1849 where residents proposed that the name be "Rosenburg". The first store in town was opened by George Rosenwald on October 16th 1850. In 1857, Frederick Law Olmsted bought land east of town for $1,000 to establish his Olmsted-designed Central Park which later became Roseville Park. The first school in town was built on School Street in 1861. In 1865, Roseville incorporated as a city and named it after its patron saint - St. Catherine of Siena (Catherine of Alexandria). The economy of Roseville has been based primarily on agriculture with some small manufacturing sectors since its incorporation as a city. The city of Roseville, California was founded in 1887 by John Sutter and named for the rosebushes that grow near his Rancho San Joaquin. It quickly became a major agricultural center due to its fertile land and access to water resources. The city's growth continued until the early 20th century when World War I caused a decline in agriculture and population. However, during the 1920s and 1930s, Roseville experienced significant growth as a result of its status as a bedroom community for Los Angeles. In recent decades, however,Roseville has suffered from several economic setbacks, most notably from the global recession which ended in 2009. Despite this setback, the city remains an important cultural and commercial center for Southern California.
Roseville is a city in the northern part of Sacramento County, California. The population was 24,853 at the 2010 census. In 1859, Jesse L. Hogg acquired 640 acres north of Roseville on the east side ofSacramento River for $10 per acre. He named the land "Hogg's Ranch" after himself and his father-in-law, Colonel John Hogg (1785–1857), an American Revolutionary War hero and governor of Nevada Territory. In 1865, when gold was discovered in nearby Sutter County, many people from around Sacramento relocated to Roseville to take advantage of the new miningfields. By 1870, there were more than 1,000 residents in Roseville. A post office was established at Roseville in 1872; it continued operation until 1907. The first school in Roseville was built on what is now East First Street and Third Avenue; it opened in 1876. The present Central High School building was built on land donated by Mrs. Ada Eaton in 1912; it replaced an earlier schoolhouse which burned down that year during a fire caused by a lightning strike. Rosevale Railroad Station served as the terminus of the Stanford & San Francisco Railway until November 1st 1906 when trackage rights were purchased by Eastern Pacific Railroad and reopened as their original terminal serving Rosevale businesses along with other parts of Sacramento County including Alameda and Contra Costa counties through their newly formed subsidiary Northern Pacific Railway Company.. On May 6th 1916 local artist Nellie Bly exhibited her painting "America I have Found" at Masonic Hall next door to Central High School which she had attended since grade school
