The McNamaras operated their coffee shop until 1951 when it was purchased by the James family who ran it until 1978. In 1978, the James family sold the business to Rensselaer Coffee Company which operated it until 2004 when it was acquired by Starbucks Corporation. When Starbucks bought Rensselaer Coffee Company, they added a store near State Route 91 which served as their flagship store until 2003 when they closed it down and built their current store on University Avenue between power lines. This new store is one of the largest Starbucks stores in North America with over 24,000 square feet of customer space including an atrium that offers views of downtown San Bernardino and Mountain View Cemetery. The store also features an 80-foot espresso machine and a large variety of food items such as breakfast tacos, sandwiches, salads, pizzas and more.
