A post office was established in 1876 and growth continued until 1902 when an interchange with Ventura opened up trade between Oxnard and San Buenaventura which resulted in more people moving into town. In 1907, developer Julius Rosenbloom developed what would become known as "The Mills", an expansive tract of land east of downtown that became home to his cotton textile mills, grocery stores, movie theaters, residences and other businesses. The area now known as "Mills Park" was originally undeveloped farmland but over time has seen significant development including a new high school (now called South High), two parks (First Park & Second Park) and several thousand jobs created by Rosenbloom's company, Westwind Paper Company during World War II. During the late 1800s there were few schools within easy reach of inhabitants so children often learned to read or learn about farming from their parents or farm-related books they found lying around the house or found at libraries and bookstores across Southern California during that time period When paved streets replaced dirt roads through residential areas changes ensued with automobiles becoming prevalent making transportation more accessible for many residents which then led to further subdivisions within geographical boundaries resulting in today’s single largest community with over 36000 citizens spread throughout 167 zip codes

It reached its peak population size of over 1,500 people by 1922 but declined thereafter due to various factors including World War II shortages of farm produce and housing developments that replaced agricultural land with factories and other uses. In 1951,San Buenaventura Ventura became part of Los Angeles County when California became an independent state; however, its municipal government continued to operate until 1976 when it merged into City Hall District No 2 (Los Angeles). San Buenaventura was founded by Juan Bautista de Anza on December 8, 1777 as a small town on an Indian rancho called Rancho Los Padres del Rey. It grew rapidly due to trade with Mexicans and other Indians, and in 1834 it became a city under Mexican rule with a population of around 10,000 people. In 1850, it seceded from Mexico and joined the United States; its citizens voted to become an independent republic named California on February 14th of that year. San Buenaventura continued to be one of the most important cities in California until the late 20th century when it lost much of its population due to new development and suburbanization within Californian towns and cities
