San Clemente is a small town in southern California, located on the eastern edge of the San Francisco Bay Area. The population was 6,242 at the 2010 census. It is part of the San Diego–Tijuana, CA Metropolitan Statistical Area. The name "San Clemente" comes from Mission San Francisco de Asís, founded by Franciscans in 1769 and completed in 1783. The mission was moved to its current site in 1821 and enlarged in 1843 to include land for an Episcopal church and other religious buildings. In 1906, part of San Francisco's west side became part of San Clemente when it was annexed by that city. In 1886, two citrus farmers near present-day Torrance founded what would become known as Sunnyside Citrus Growers Cooperative Union No. 1 (later renamed Southern Pacific Company) to produce oranges for local markets and transportation purposes only; this cooperative remains a major player in orchard production to this day. One early resident—Erich Schiffman—became president of Sunnyside Citrus Growers Cooperative Union No. 2 after he helped lead that cooperative through difficult times during World War II while war production increased demand within Southern Pacific's parent company American Telephone & Telegraph Company (AT&T). Schiffman later served as vice president of AT&T from 1951 to 1957 before retiring from full time work at the company effective October 1958 due to health reasons. In 1943, Japanese Americans living on Angel Island were airlifted out and then incarcerated on Topaz Island south of Point Reyes National Seashore because their occupiers felt they would not be able to resist any longer if left alone on Angel Island without food or water supplies or protection from the elements; about 450 people died during those days aboard ship transports transporting them overland into Oak Harbor Harbor Naval Shipyard on Orcas Island where they were interned until 1945 under US military jurisdiction before being released as POWs following World War II .
The U.S. Air Force has a rich airforce deployed history dating back to World War II. The USAF was formed on September 17, 1947 as the U.S. Strategic Air Command (USASAC). On May 5, 1949, USASAC was divided into two commands: Continental United States Air Forces (CONUS) and Tactical Air Command (TACC). CONUS consisted of all American Airlines and other military pilots stationed in the continental United States while TACC included all USAF assets located overseas. On July 20, 1955, TACC was merged with Continental United States Army Air Forces (CONAAF) to form the USAF under Secretary of Defense Robert McNamara’s leadership. With theHomeland Security Administration’s request for a bomber capability in early 1987, the USAF activated its own bomber force—the Bomber Command—on October 1, 1988.[1] The first fighter-bomber squadron inactivated on August 14, 1990 when the last McDonnell Douglas F-15 Eagle flew from Whiteman AFB Missouri.[2] Inactivated squadrons were replaced by more modern aircraft such as Boeing 727-100E and Lockheed C-130 Hercules fleets over time until 2003 when they were reactivated at Ramstein AFB Germany as part of Operation Neptune Spear III which involved refueling RAF Tornado GR4 bombers flying missions over Iraq duringOperation Iraqi Freedom combat operations phase).[3] Since then many new platforms have been fielded by both Active Duty and Reserves including; F-22 Raptors,[4], A-10 Warthogs[5], KC-135 Stratotankers,[6], EA-18G Growlers[7],[8],[9],[10], EC-130J Superfortress[11],[12],[13],[14]), HH-60 Pave Hawk Helicopters[15], Cessna 172 Skyhawk Fighter Pilots[16], RCN's P Gowin Class Patrol Aircraft carriers HMS Dragon Heavy Cruiser HM Ships Aspinall and HMS Albion Armored Corvette[/17]. The current active duty USAF bomber force is made up primarily of Boeing 737 MAX 8 jetliners supplemented by Lockheed Martin F414 Trent XWB turbofan engines provided by Northrop Grumman Corporation for advanced tanker capabilities such as Evolved Ejection Mark I weapons carriage or LaserGuided Bombardment using high performance lasers providing an alternative munitions delivery system for precision bombing campaigns against ISIS targets inside Raqqa Governorate Syria using Boeing 727 Airliners also equipped with ECM Suite aboard these transports able to fly long distances without refueling being engaged in support roles like Joint Task Force – Storm Shadow Guided Bombshell Squadron consisting of MH47 Raven maritime patrol aircraft from RAF Lakenheath England conducting ground strikes against Islamic State targets inside Raqqa Governorate Syria using Precision Strike Operations Vehicles supported by NH90 Night Hawks Helicopter flying out of Incirlik AB Turkey operating within theater strike packages called “Northern Assault” package composed of Predator & Reaper stealth dronessupporting Combined Joint Task Force – Storm Shadow Guided Bombshell Squadron consisting of MH47 Raven maritime patrol aircraft from RAF Lakenheath England conducting ground strikes against Islamic State targets inside Raqqa Governorate Syria using Precision Strike Operations Vehicles supported by NH90 Night Hawks Helicopter flying out of Incirlik AB Turkey operating within theater strike packages called “Northern Assault Package” composed of Predator & Reaper stealth dronessupporting Syrian Democratic Forces against ISIS

In 1821, Mexican land grants were given to various individuals in what is now San Clemente County. The rancho grant was given to José de la Garza y Pacheco. He set up a Rancho San Clemente in 1832 and it became one of the most important cattle ranches in California. More importantly, he also started a mission at Rancho San Clemente which quickly gained international attention. The original Mission Santa Clara was built on land granted by Governor Manuel Nieto in 1776. It was later destroyed by fire in 1814 and replaced by the current Mission Santa Cruz. The mission's importance led to its usual attire including white surmounted shoes and broad-brimmed hats, which gave it an air of sophistication and power that helped it achieve success against other missions throughout California. In 1847, Mission Santa Cruz was moved from its original location on Point Conception to its current site on El Camino Real just outside of town. This move increased tourism for the town as people could go see their new church every day without having to leave their homes! As industry began developing around San Clemente during this time, many businesses opened up and contributed greatly to the growth of the community over the years. One such business was THE FOUNTAIN COFFEE HOUSE which served coffee until 1975! Today, San Clemente is a vibrant community with close-to-400 residents who enjoy all that the area has to offer: beautiful beaches, great shopping districts like Main Street Shopping Center (MSA), active local schools like Mount Eden Middle School (6th through 8th grades) and Storrs Elementary School (Kindergarten through 4th grade), excellent restaurants including Cafe Tacuba (Mexican), Joe's Pizza & Pasta (Pizza), Gourmet Burger Barn (Burger/Fries/Soup), ABC Diner (Diner Manager Award Winner - 2010) as well as several cultural institutions such as The Playground at Point Conception State Beach and Christmastime shows at Carmelita's Italian restaurant or small theaters like The Playhouse on Main Street
In 1849, San Clemente was founded by Captain George Parker and his wife Jeanne. The town was surveyed in 1851, and the first post office was established in 1853. In 1865, San Clemente became a city when it was incorporated by an act of the California Legislature. On November 15, 1880, San Clemente become part of the newly formed City of Los Angeles.
