The U.S. Air Force has a rich history in San Clemente, California. The first air force base in the area was established here in 1941, and it has since been home to the 82nd Airborne Division, the Ninth Air Force, and many other forms of military service. Today, San Clemente is an important community within the USAF and its mission is to provide support for operating bases all over America. One of the most famous residents of San Clemente was World War IIAAF General George C. Marshall who served as Chairman of United States Strategic Bombing Survey from 1945-1946. Marshall's visit toSan Clemente gave rise to what became known as "Marshall Square." The square is located at 1st Street and Harbor Drive and features a statue of Marshall which overlooks Santa Barbara County Harbor. Today, the USAF continues its tradition of giving back to local communities by hosting various events throughout the year including Homecoming Weekend (formerly known as Armed Forces Day), Community night out (known as Whiskey Tango Foxtrot), Air Show/Demonstration Flight Day - typically Memorial Day weekend - Veteran's Day Parade on Saturday evenings during summer months, Christmas Tree Festival each December; and numerous other activities throughout the year that contribute to making San Clemente an attractive place to live, work, or raise a family.

San Clemente is a town in San Diego County, California, United States. The population was 397 at the 2010 census. It is located on the eastern coast of San Diego Island adjacent to the city of San Diego. The name "San Clemente" comes from Saint Clementinus, who was born there in 584 AD. The first Europeans to set foot in what is now San Clemente were Spanish traders and missionaries, who founded missions here in 1769 and 1770. In 1821, Mexico gained independence from Spain and moved its capital to Mexico City; however, part of San Diego remained under Mexican rule until 1848 when it became part of the United States as a result of the Treaty of Guadalupe Hidalgo. The post office at Point Loma was established on March 12th, 1851 by Commodore John D. Sloat with "Loma" meaning high mountain peak in Spanish and "Clementine" being an unsalted olive tree that grew well hereabouts because no other tree could do so because of chaparral covering most of the area then (now). A large fire destroyed much of Point Loma during a severe storm on November 3rd 1861 which left many homes uninsured or without roofs; however this event helped spur development around Point Loma including several hotels/motels and other businesses built during that initial rebuilding period following the fire plus new land developments such as Slaughter Land & Company Store which still stands today across from Interstate 10 just south east off State Route 163 about 8 miles west of downtown where I-10 crossed over into North County back then
The United States Air Force (USAF) has been providing air support for the country since World War II. The USAF was founded in 1947 as the Federal Aviation Administration and is headquartered at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base in Dayton, Ohio. The USAF today consists of more than 350,000 members across 54 geographically based wings and commands 36 Combat Air Forces. It provides aerial refueling and close air support to U.S. forces in Iraq, Afghanistan, Europe, the Mediterranean Basin and other areas of operations. In addition to its combat capabilities, the USAF also enjoys a rich history with many gift traditions dating back to when it was created as part of the American Defense Department. One of the most famous gifts given by the USAF is Operation Overlord which led to victory against Nazi Germany in World War II. After becoming operational in late 1944 within days of each other, RAF Bomber Command’s No 11 Group became capable of delivering devastating raids on German factories and troop concentrations using strategic bombing alone. This success led to increased calls for RAF assistance with ground attacks against enemy targets inside Germany; this resulted in Operation Greeting Card from Director-General Sir Arthur Tedder in February 1945 which included an invitation for any member or unit of RAF Bomber Command who could provide ‘a specially good present’ for General Dwight D. Eisenhower during his visit to England that month. So successful were these raids that until 1954 Bomber Command continued to be called RAF Fighter Command even after its component commands had become independent departments within NATO under Supreme Commander Allied Powers (SCAP). Another well known gift from the USAF is insignia used by members such as bomb aimers on aircraft carriers or fighter pilots upon their return from combat tours overseas; these are often made available through special forces units either attached to Headquarters USAAF or enjoyed by all personnel upon retirement or death within the military service itself as there is no entitlement for them once they have left active duty; examples include those worn by both VC recipients (vice Presidential Unit Awards) and Distinguished Flying Cross recipients (Distinguished Flying Medals). Many others are still actively worn today by member aviators such as those worn on patches above uniforms while flying servicemen/women into war zones aroundthe world as part of Global Hawk warfare flights conducted with Predator/Bin Laden aircraft currently being flown over Afghanistan

The city of San Clemente, California was founded in 1836 by Spanish colonists as part of the Rancho Santa Margarita mission. The name derives from the Santiago de Compostela shrine, which was located in what is now known as ZIP code 92901. The area around present-day San Clemente became a port for goods brought down the coast by sea and around land by Native Americans. In 1881, after years of struggle between attorney James Buchanan Polk and politician John McKinley, San Clemente became part of the new United States with its own government. In 1902, it incorporated as a city under California law. It experienced some growth during World War II as an important military base and center for aircraft production. Today, San Clemente is a small town with a diverse population that includes many professionals and educators.
In 1821, the Mexican land grant of Rancho San Clemente was given to José María del Valle and his wife, Agustina. The rancho ran for about a mile on the shores of Pacific Ocean. In 1848, it was sold to Antonio Justo de laHoz who named it after himself, San Clemente. It was part of the 613-acre Rancho Rinconada Grant which went to Obed White in 1853. Rancho San Clemente became part of the 825-acre Rancho Adobe Grant in 1863 and finally the 912-acre Rancho Santa Anita Grant in 1874. The old mission at present day Carmel had been founded by Fray Juníperos Serra in 1769 as São Francisco Xavier Mission but burned down in 1772. A new mission was built on what is now Monterey Peninsula (present day) in 1778 by Father Miguel Hidalgo y Costilla under orders from King Carlos III of Spain as Nuestra Señora de los Padres Militantes (Our Lady of Peace). Palo Alto post office opened on November 1, 1865; its first ZIP code was 94609. The town's incorporation as a city began on December 15, 1974 with an election held that same year by city officials over whether or not to become a full member of the County of San Andreas. The vote ended up being successful and Palo Alto became an incorporated city under California law with full powers over all its residents except for specialfd status within the County government which it retains as an unincorporated community subject to local control pursuant to state law
