In San Dimas, California, the Coast Guard has been providing security and support to local communities since 1921. The Coast Guard's mission is to protect the people and property of the County by preventing piracy, smuggling, coastal erosion, and other maritime emergencies. The first Coast Guard station in San Dimas was established on December 21, 1921. The station was manned by a detachment of Marines from the Marine Barracks at Long Beach. In 1932, the first Coast Guard cutter was assigned to San Dimas County. Today there are five coast guard stations within San Dimas County: one at Huntington Beach (since 1951), two at El Segundo (since 1955), three at Redondo Beach (since 1959), and one at Monterey Park (since 1967). San Dimas is a city in San Bernardino County, California. The population was 38,658 at the 2010 census. It is the most populous city in San Bernardino County and the 14th-largest city in California. The name "Dimasa" means "place of many trees." The first people to live in what is now San Dimas were the Tongva Native Americans and Mission Indians who arrived from Southern California about 1824. They built missions along Mission Creek and near present day Claremont Boulevard/Highway 66. In 1852, Spanish missionaries began evangelizing among the region's early Mexican settlers and by 1857 there were over 60 mission churches scattered throughout what are now nineteen cities, townships (seven of which still have missions), and villages within San Bernardino County. After Mexican independence was granted to America on November 8, 1821,California became part of Mexico until it was ceded back to the United States on February 14, 1850 as part of Treaties of Guadalupe Hidalgo and Eagle Pass. On March 6,1858 an act passed by the US Congress named Constitutional Convention met at Stockton to revise Articles I-IV of the Mexican Constitution which had been ratified by Mexico City on January 12 that year without input from Californians or their representatives. A Committee appointed by Governor Cradle voted 5-2 against ratifying said document because they felt that it did not take into account public sentiment in California about selfgovernance under American auspices rather than under Spanish rule On October 16th 1860 Samuel Barker with his brother Edward opened up a general store at corner of Enterprise Avenue &figueroa Street (now reopened as State Route 54) just north of Temescal Canyon Road near Present day Valleyfair Mall across from Hollywood Studios
The Coast Guard has been providing protection and assistance to the maritime community for over 200 years. In that time, they have privileged to give back to their community in many ways. Their gift history can be traced back to 1827 when they were founded as a military unit within the Department of Defense. As the Coast Guard grew in size and responsibilities, so too did their need for gifts. In 1912, Congress passed an act establishing the Coast Guard Museum which was devoted to preserving and perpetuate the Coast Guard’s culture, history and artifacts. The museum would also offer educational opportunities for both civilians and members of the Coast Guard itself. In 1967, President Lyndon Johnson authorized $5 million towards the development of a new coast guard station at Governors Island which would become home to both local law enforcement officers as well as members of the National Park Service. With this donation, officials from all over America came together to help build one of our nation’s most iconic landmarks. Today, Governors Island is known as an important stop on international waterways and features a variety of public exhibits including a museum dedicated to shipbuilding and coastal defense History is also being written about how technology has played a part in increasing security on our coasts with things like drones flying over our waters now commonplace!

The city was first populated by Native Americans and later moved to its current location due to the construction of the Western Electric Railway. In 1892, San Dimas became part of Los Angeles County and soon developed into a prosperous community with numerous businesses and homes. In 1916, San Dimas voted to become an independent city under the leadership of Mayor John Cavanagh. This move solidified San Dimas as one of LA's most popular communities and helped make it a leading cultural center during the 1920s and 1930s. In 1951, after years of planning by Mayor George Romney, San Dimas became home to the world’s largest open-air movie theater when it opened at Fairplex Racetrack on Harbor Boulevard. Over time, other major attractions have joined the Open Air Movie Theater including restaurants such as Benihana Grill & Japanese Restaurant (now Hooters), Staples Center (now Lakers) basketball games featuring stars such as Kobe Bryant or Michael Jordan, opera performances at L’Orchestra del Live (formerly La Scala Opera House), festivals such as Automobile Club de France's(ACF) Hollywood Motor Show events held annually in early summertime throughout much of Los Angeles County,. In recent decades SAN DIMAS has seen strong growth in new development including residential subdivisions as well as specialty shopsmithing galleriesand high end restaurants while preserving many character features associated with its historic downtown core
The city of San Dimas was founded in 1887 by James S. Gilmore and named after the Santa Susana Mountains. The first post office in San Dimas was established in 1886, and the first school opened in 1889. The population of San Dimas increased from 1,000 to 25,000 during the late 1800s, and development continued until the early 1920s when a series of fires destroyed much of downtown.
