For many years, La Compañía Mexicana de Café Espinosa was the only source for quality espresso drinks in Northern California and parts of Oregon. In 1912, Don Manuel Peña founded El Paso Coffee Company which became one of the largest coffee businesses in Southern California. The company operated multiple cafés throughout Los Angeles County before selling its assets to Jardin Coffee Corporation in 1974. Today, Jardin Coffee Corporation is still a major player within the coffee industry with over 110 stores across North America including 25 outlets located inside Disneyland Resort!
San Dimas is a small city in San Bernardino County, California. The population was 77,787 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Los Angeles metropolitan area. The name comes from Spanish phrase "santo daime", meaning "holy day". The first Europeans to visit what is now San Dimas were Jesuit missionaries in 1818 and they used the name Rancho Santa Anita for their land grant. In 1853, three men named Edward Doheny, James Irvine and Angus Macdonald purchased Rancho San Antonio from Mexican General Mariano Vallejo for $3,500. They named it after Saint Anthony of Padua because he had been invoked as a patron saint by those who owned the rancho. In 1882, businessman George Hearst bought the rancho from Macdonald and renamed it Hearst Ranch after himself. He built two large houses there – one now known as Hearst Tower and another now called Hearst Hall – and opened up much of what is now town including an amusement park which he built on what is now east side of Town Lake near present-day Sun Valley Boulevard. This period around 1880-1910 was when much of what is today Downtown San Dimas started to take form with new businesses opening up such as grocery stores, banks, movie theaters and other businesses that would help to define this area over time such as Rockridge Elementary School (now part of Fullerton Union High School), which opened in 1927; Alhambra Theatre (now The Regency) on Sepulveda Boulevard north ofpool Road; Pico de gallo restaurant on Imperial Avenue just south of busy Ventura Boulevard;and many more.. During World War II production took place at nearby Paramount Studios where Warner Bros., MGM and Allied Artists filmed some major Hollywood movies like Ben-Hur (1925), Saving Private Ryan (1998), Forrest Gump (1994), Armageddon (1998), Pearl Harbor - December 7th 1941(2006) etc… before returning to downtown during peacetime. One notable exception was 1942’s Dracula which was shot at Universal Studios lot in Universal City proper instead due to fears that Japanese American citizens may have been captured there during war time…. Downtown business owners who survived World War II include Harry Weingarten who reopened his candy store Magnolia while Bob Hope's repair shop went back open Decatur Blvd between Juniper Street/Alameda Street & Western Ave….. later becoming Hope's Hardware….and Harvey Keitel's restaurant Hooters across from Disneyland Hotel….. latter becoming known as La Villa…….. until it closed down in 1987 along with most other restaurants in then “Downtown West Side”……………………………………….. until its reopening by Homecoming Pizza last year……………. essentially giving the old Main Street Area back to its original designation once again……………………………………….. until further notice

The San Dimas Valley has been inhabited by the Ohlone people for at least 10,000 years. The first European to visit the area was Gaspar de Portolà in 1769. In 1821, Mission San Gabriel was founded in what is now San Dimas. The mission served as a theological and cultural center for the surrounding communities. In 1867, Rancho Santa Anita was granted to George C. Mendenhall, who built a large ranchos near what is now downtown San Dimas. The land gradually became more valuable due to its mild climate and fertile soil. By 1911, only a few hundred acres remained unoccupied and were subdivided into tracts of land that comprise today's neighborhoods of San Dimas and La Cañada Flintridge. During World War II, California took part in the war effort by providing resources such as food and munitions to various theaters of operations including Europe and Japan. The valley played an important role in supporting military efforts with its ample water supplies and easy access to transportation routes. After the war ended, many businesses returned to their former levels of activity while new construction began throughout the cityscape which continues today. Since 1990, San Dimas has become one of the fastest-growing municipalities in Los Angeles County with population growth averaging over 6% annually
The town of San Dimas began as a small settlement on the east bank of the Santa Anita River in 1871. The name was given to the community because it was near two large mountains, Mount San Dimas and Mount Baldy. A post office was established in 1872, and by 1875, the population had grown to about 50 people. In 1880, San Dimas incorporated as a city. The first mayor was Hosea C. Latham. In 1907, San Dimas became an agricultural center due to its location at the crossroads of several important highways. In 1916, San Dimas became part of Los Angeles County after being proposed by then-County Supervisor George Barton. At that time, it had a population of around 100 people and an economy based largely on agriculture and ranching. By 1920, however, San Dimas had increased its population to over 1,000 people and its economy to one focused primarily on industry and commerce. In 1927, Mayor John Pendergast ordered all businesses closed on New Year's Day due to the Great Depression. Despite this order, many businesses continued to operate despite financial difficulties until 1931 when City Manager Harry Sweeny announced plans for implementation of a new zoning code that would have limited business activity in the city limits
