The first truly international café boom began around 1960 when CaféMomo opened its doors on Market Street near University Avenue in SF adjacent to Golden Gate Park (now Cooper Square). English-speaking customers could enjoy British Breakfast Tea while Italians enjoyedpesce e latte at Mama Mia's Palace Buffet restaurant next door.
