Over time, different companies bought or leased licenses to roast maga coffee and begin producing their own cups of Joe. In 1908, Angelo Cervelli founded CASA de la Costa Coffee, which became one of the first commercial enterprises to sell maga coffee. During World War II, CASA de la Costa Coffee produced millions of pounds of cacao for military purposes; as a result, the brand has been associated with neutrality ever since. Since its inception, CASA de la Costa Coffee has produced over two million cups of joe under many different brands including CAJUJO (Castiglionese Jojoba), MAGA COFFEE (Maga Bean), PASTE MAGAZINE (Pasteurized Syrup from Cocoa Beans) and MEDITERRANEAN COFFEE (Malabarista Coffee). Today, CASA de la Costa Coffee maintains its presence within San Francisco’s thriving café community with locations throughout town as well as online ordering capability. From here on out, Brazilian production of maga would continue uninterrupted until 1762 when Portugal regained control over that country. 8) During World War II, Brazilian troops stationed in Europe brewed vast quantities of espresso for their peers back home while Nazi officers smuggled large amounts of opium into South America through Brazilian ports. As such, Brazilian café culture has been highly influential throughout the war years – even serving as inspiration for various Allied forces heralding their liberation movements (e.g., General Patton's decision to juice up his troops with Vichy French espresso while they were fighting against Germany).

The Egyptians also enjoyed maga coffee, and it is thought to have been brought over to India by traders in the 6th century BC. In 1600 AD, Portuguese traders journeyed through India and found that Indian society had a long-standing love for this type of coffee. They introduced the drink to Europe, where it quickly became popular.

In 1868, sections 2 and 3 were transferred from Contra Costa County to Alameda County when it was created as a result of the California Gold Rush. In 1880, Oakland incorporated as a city and soon became one of America's largest cities with over 200,000 residents. In 1951, San Francisco adopted an ordinance legalizing prostitution which led to the nickname "The City That Never Sleeps."
