In 1960, the Air Force deployed a gift to San Gabriel. The gift was an A-1H Skyhawk fighter jet. The plane was donated by General Dynamics Corporation and sent to San Gabriel as part of the Global War on Terrorism. The plane has since been used for many different purposes, including flying research studies and providing support for Operation Desert Storm.

San Gabriel is a city in Los Angeles County, California, United States. The population was 2,713 at the 2010 census. It is located on the San Gabriel River and forms part of the Greater Los Angeles Area. The original name of San Gabriel was Agua Caliente de Santa Anita (Aquarius), which means "warm water spring". The springs were so hot that early pioneers nicknamed them "the ovens of Santa Anita". In 1885, Angelenos approved an Act to change the name to San Gabriel because of its proximity to Veritas Academy and Mission Dolores Cemetery. The first post office in San Gabriel opened in 1894. Today's downtown area began developing around this time. In 1907, Eastlake Boulevard was completed as a major road connecting east LA with west Pasadena and other parts of southLA. This made it possible for groceries and other goods from Pasadena to be brought into eastern LA without having to go through downtown Los Angeles or West Hollywood. Over time, east LA annexed more areas north of Eastlake Boulevard such as Watts and Boyle Heights while westLA annexed areas including Downey Park and Culver City. On October 15, 1910 – one year after annexation – a fire burned down the old mission district near what is now El Monte High School; this destroyed much property but also left behind evidence that Mission Santa Catalina had once been an active religious center in Southern California; this led to Mission Santa Catalina being restored by then-Governor matching funds from state coffers for restoration effort following passage of legislation authorizing it Accordingly upon completion thereof on December 5th 1912 pursuant to law number 7325 entitled “An act concerning missions” by Governor Manuel Avila Cisneros $10,000 were set aside by him out of unappropriated monies seized during special session held at his request November 17th 1911 within minutes after adjournment thereof containing amongst others resolutions condemning spoliation [sic]of Mexican heritage throughout State government taking place at that time’ . On January 10th 1913 resolution # 7987 authored by Supervisor Frank Jett called for complete destruction of all church property within city limits not onlyMissionSantaCatalinabut also St Mary Magdalene Monastery adn two nuns working thereon consequent theretoNo fewer than sixteen homes were razed & all equipment converted into apartments soon thereafter resulting in loss/damage estimated at $120 thousand

The small town of San Gabriel, California is located in the Angeles National Forest and has a rich history dating back to 1859. The first permanent white settlement in what is now San Gabriel County was established by Mexican immigrants, who named their new town Lomas de San Gabriel (Hill of the Angels). From here they began to explore and mineralize the area which would become known as the Pojoaque Basin. By 1882, when City Hall was built, there were only a handful of inhabitants living in what is now downtown San Gabriel. However, over time, San Gabriel's growth has been unprecedented. In 1887 it became one of the first municipalities in California to be incorporated as a city with a population of over 5,000 people. Today,SanGabriel remains an important center for commerce and culture within Southern California. It is home to several universities including Pepperdine University and Monterrey Institute of Technology – both world-renowned institutions – as well as many businesses including Panasonic Corporation and Intel Corporation. In addition to its importance within Southern California,SanGabriel also has a significant role within American History. For example, it was one of the few places where George Washington stopped his journey across America after his inauguration in 1789. Additionally, during World War II many Silicon Valley companies such as Hewlett-Packard and Lockheed Martin were founded here including those that would later contribute significantly to helping win World War II for the United States
The first permanent European settlement in what is now San Gabriel County was founded on July 14, 1795 by Father José de Arreguin and his expedition of the Franciscan missionary order. The town was named "Pico" after Mount Pico, which at that time lay just to the east of Los Angeles. By 1871, when the county was created, San Gabriel had a population of 797 people. In 1881, land sales by J.P. Morgan led to creation of the Santa Anita racetrack as part of a larger deal that included land for downtown Los Angeles and other areas around Pasadena and Inglewood. The race track would eventually become one of the most popular in California with more than $2 million in revenue generated annually from its operations between 1911 and 1966. In 1915, during World War I, General Douglas MacArthur's forces liberated Angelenos from Japanese occupation during their Eighth Air Force campaign across Southern California. As a result of this action and ensuing military buildup in Southern California, many citrus fruits became available for export to Japan following the war's end. This caused an increase in demand for oranges so much so that Orange Tree Farms began producing oranges here in earnest beginning in 1949 after years of research into how to grow fruit successfully under such difficult conditions – including using pesticides not approved by the FDA at that time
The San Gabriel Valley Air National Guard has deployed a gift of air force equipment to the residents of San Gabriel. The gift is being delivered in the form of an airplane and helicopter. The aircraft is a Boeing 727-200, and the helicopter is a Bell Helicopter UH-1 Huey. These aircraft are part of the 9th Wing’s Regional Support Squadron, which provides humanitarian relief and support to military bases in Southern California.
