From then until 1862 when it was annexed to Riverside County (it remains a county within California), San Jacinto remained an open-air rancho governed by Spanish landowners. The last American resident died in 1914; at that time there were only a few hundred Mexicans living inSan Jacinto County proper and most of them worked on ranches outside the county limits. A major change came with World War II when large numbers of Hispanic servicemen came ashore to fight for the Allied cause during World War II. Many Latinos also found work on military installations throughout California’s inland regions such as Victorville and Fullerton along with other wartime industries such as aircraft manufacturing or shipbuilding. In 1951, San Jacinto became one of eighteen counties organized into incorporated cities within Riverside County after statehood passed through Congress without referendum; however, many Latinos still live near military installations or other high-traffic areas due to economic opportunities available there instead of inside city limits where they would be subject to discrimination or racism from non-native residents. Today much like before Hispanics make up nearly 60% (2007)of SanJacintoadys population while Asians make up almost 30% (2007) making this largest Latino community in Southern California

The city of San Jacinto, California was founded in 1795 by Captain José Joaquín de la Vega and his wife, María del Carmen y Costilla. The town quickly became a thriving center for ranching and agriculture, and its location made it a convenient staging ground for the Mexican Army during the 1846-1847 Mexican Revolution. In 1872, the town was renamed after General Antonio López de Santa Anna, who had played an important role in suppressing the revolution. By 1907, San Jacinto had become one of the most prosperous cities in California. But despite its successes, San Jacinto also faced significant challenges - such as a devastating fire that destroyed much of the city in 1906. In spite of these setbacks, however, San Jacinto continued to grow and develop until it became a major cultural and commercial center in Southern California during the early 20th century. Today,San Jacinto is a vibrant community with rich history that continues to make a positive impact on its residents and visitors alike.

By 1900, San Jacinto had become one of Southern California's most important cities. As Hollywood grew more popular, so did its need for workers. In 1907, San Jacinto Avenue was renamed Hollywood Boulevard in honor of its new namesake city. Over time, other areas in Southern California – such as Riverside and Moreno Valley – became associated withSan Jacinto too, becoming known collectively as "the Shores".
