The United States Military has been present in San Juan Capistrano since 1821. The first military post in the area was an ammunition depot, which was founded by General José María Cámpora during the Mexican-American War. In 1847, General Antonio López de Santa Anna established a garrison at San Juan Capistrano to prevent the British from entering California. After California became a state in 1850, the military presence increased as Fort Point on Elsinore Point became the main staging ground for U.S. troops fighting in California and Nevada. In 1861, Confederate forces attacked U.S.-controlled San Juan Capistrano and destroyed most of its infrastructure, including its arsenal and buildings housing artillery and munitions. However, American forces were able to repel the Confederates and recapture much of San Juan Capistrano within two days of their attack. The military presence continued through World War II until 1947 when it was disbanded due to budgetary cutsbacks in the American military establishment following World War II. Following World War II, many local businesses began to invest money into building new facilities for the United States Army Corps of Engineers (USACE). These include barracks for soldiers living on base (1948), a clinic (1954), aSchool of Aviation Technology (1959), an armory(1963), and now an airfield (2008). A number of restaurants have also opened up around USACE headquarters complex over time such as Don's Pizza & Pasta chain (1964), Jack's Cafe chain(1968), KFC restaurant chains(1970-1975), Subway sandwich stores(1978-1981)and Wendy's burger restaurants(1986-1989).

The sceptre represented British power throughout Europe after its victory over France. The pendant also has an inscription reading “For Your Surety I plight My Honor To Bear You Everlasting Friendship And Obedience” engraved on it.) 5) A beautiful ring named after Ulysses S Grant was presented to him by Mrs. Lincoln during her visit to America in 1865 following his victory at Gettysburg which marks America’s entry into World War II!

The City of San Juan Capistrano, California is located in the San Joaquin Valley on the border of Kern and Fresno Counties. The city was founded in 1848 by Spanish settlers as part of Rancho Capistrano. The name "San Juan" means "St. John's Bay" in Spanish and it was chosen to honor Don José de Jesús María de la Luz y los Baños, a religious missionary who had served in Spain and Latin America. In 1847, two years after Mexican nationals were admitted to the United States as citizens, San Juan Capistrano declared itself an American town. In 1850, it became a county seat under California state law. The population of San JuanCapistrano grew rapidly during its early years because it was a strategic location on the Sierras between central California and Nevada County. In 1860, when the U.S.-Mexico War began, General Antonio López de Santa Anna ordered his cavalry to occupy San JuanCapistrano while he crossed into Mexico to fight against Army General Stephen Kearny. A small military garrison successfully defended the city until Mexican forces withdrawn in 1865 without attacking or seizing control ofSAN JUAN CAPISTRANO! In 1872-1873, SAN JUAN CAPISTRANO hosted what is considered one of the most important international conferences for ranching organizations that took place at that time; this conference resulted in passage of legislation legalizing cattle farming throughout much of western North America. In 1886-1887 SAN JUAN CAPISTRANO became home to both the first successful permanent electric light bulb installation west of the Mississippi River and also witnessed Expo '87 which showcased Californian agricultural products at a world stage
