The history of shooters in San Juan Capistrano, California goes back over a hundred years. The first person to shoot for fun in the town was Elisha P. Richardson in 1865. In 1887, George W. Houser opened an ammunition store and began selling firearms off of Main Street. The town continued to grow until World War II when the population decreased because of the war. After the war, there was a significant increase in population because of the growth of agriculture and ranching in the area. However, during the late 1800s and early 1900s, there were no shooting ranges or clubs in San Juan Capistrano because most people did not own guns. In 1925, Leo Auman opened his Lighthouse Shooting Club on Harbor Drive which became one of the most popular shooting venues in San Juan Capistrano. This club allowed customers to buy guns and shoot at targets from their home. The club was eventually closed by 1970 due to financial troubles but it is still remembered today as one of San Juan Capistrano's oldest shooting clubs! In 1935, Elmer Kirby opened his Gun Shop on First Street which became one of the most popular gun stores in town because it offered competitive handgun matches as well as rifles and shotguns for sale along withammunition supplies. Kirby also had a large rifle range that allowed customers to buy firearms and shoot at targets from their home. The Gun Shop lasted until 1977 but it is still remembered today as one of San Juan Capistrano's longest running businesses! Around this time, many people started coming into town each day after work to enjoy shooting at various target ranges located throughout town such as Kirby's Firearms on First Street or Richardson & Sons Ammunition Store onMain Street- these ranges continue to be popular today! In 1937, Don O'Neill opened his Outdoor Recreation Center which became one of the most popular activities around town due to its large pool (which still remains open) and playground for children aged 4-12 years old! This center also hosted pistol matches every Saturday morning from 1937-1977 inclusive! It is interesting to note that from 1937-1977 there were only 2 exceptions where tournaments were not held; during World War II when GI’s were prohibited from owning firearms according to law then after 1945 when ammo rationing happened many residents decided nottoshoot anymore due to lack thereof However some residents enjoyed taking their handguns out onto rural property where they could compete against other homeowners who had more powerful rifles! Additionally several churches donated land within walking distance of their facilities so attendees could take their rounds “at church”!!! Today this center continues operating as a public recreation space with many annual events including paintball tournaments etc.- another reminder that having fun doesn't haveTo cost $30+ per hour!!!!

San Juan Capistrano is a small, unincorporated community located in San Luis Obispo County, California. The name "San Juan" is Spanish for "Saint John." The first successful mission at San Juan was founded in 1769 by Father Francisco Palomo andMission San Juan de La Cruz was dedicated on May 25, 1770. It was the only missions in Alta California. Today, the community has a population of about 150 people and it is located on the eastern edge of Downtown San Luis Obispo. The town started as a small pioneer colony near Mission San José de la Esperanza on what is now Capistrano Boulevard. In 1864, the Mexican government granted land to American citizens who had helped to win independence from Mexico. These Americans named their new settlement after St. John's Catholic Church which they built just east of the current town line on Yorba Linda Boulevard. The original settlers were mostly men but soon there were also many children living in this nascent town. The school system was established in 1868 and soon after became one of the most popular institutions in rural America with students from all over Northern California coming to attend grades 1-8. In 1880, an act of Congress designated Capistrano Island as part of Alta California and when that territory was divided into various counties within decades following its creation much of what would become Capistrano County went with it including much of what today makes up Yorba Linda Boulevard south between Mission Road (now State Route 126) and Pismo Beach Blvd., making it easier for development around those areas while leaving much undeveloped forest lying along Yorba Linda Boulevard north between Pismo Beach Blvd./Mission Road/Capistrano Boulevard intersection. In spite of this setback some property developers did develop around those areas because there were few other places for them to go given that access to water and land had been limited since before European arrival In 1915, when efforts began to move people out of central coastal Santa Barbara due primarily to increasingly noisy air quality issues caused by automobiles driving through open forests then continuing into residential neighborhoods adjacent to freeways things came together finally creating an opportunity for a large local housing developer named Harry Chandler who managed enough extra land east off Highway 1B north past Mission Road/Pismo Beach Blvd./Washington Street(today's Old State Route 126) so he could build houses not just on his own lots but also lease them back from other developers who needed them less developed than he wanted them too; thus beginning what we know as Overtown Development Company
