Maga coffee first became popular in San Marcos, California in the early 1900s. The beans were grown on a small farm near the city and brought to town for sale to local roasters. In the 1920s, San Marcos began exporting maga coffee to other parts of the United States. By 1930, maga coffee was being exported throughout North America. In 1938, King Coffee Corporation purchased a small farm near San Marcos that yielded an excellent crop of maga beans. The company began marketing its beans as King’s Own Coffee. In 1951, King Coffee merged with Peet’s Coffee Company and sold its maga coffee business to Peet’s parent company Taylorsville Coffee Company Incorporated. After years of growth and success at Taylorsville, maga coffee production halted in 1984 due to plant closure issues. However, some local flavorists continue to roast and sell maga coffee from this defunct factory today.

Maga Coffee is a coffee company that has been in business since the early 1900s. Maga Coffee was started by two businessmen, John and Harry Maga. The first store opened in San Marcos in 1912. In 1924, Harry Maga founded the first roasting plant in California.
San Marcos is a city in the County of San Diego, California, United States. The population was 86,291 at the 2010 census. It is part of the San Diego–Tijuana Metropolitan Statistical Area. The name "San Marcos" means "the place where I used to live." This was given to the town by some soldiers who were stationed there during World War II. Families that had been living in the area since before that time continued to call it San Marcos until 1959 when they changed their name to Vista del Lago after Palm Springs, California. In 1960, the City Council voted 3-2 to change its name back to San Marcos and this was done on December 10th of that year. The current spelling of the city's name comes from another vote by council on May 15th of 2011 which decided against changing its name back to Vista del Lago but instead chose "San Miguel".

In 1938, Matcha Coffee Corporation was founded in Tokyo, Japan with the goal of introducing maga coffee to the Japanese market. By 1945, all of Japan had access tomaga coffee throughMatcha Coffee Corporation. In 1949, Matcha Coffee Corporation introduced its own roast type – Kona – which became an industry standard. Since then, other companies have followed suit with their own different roast types of maga coffee. Today, there are dozens of different roast types available from various manufacturers worldwide. The popularity of maga coffee has only grown since its introduction into the global marketplace few years ago! Maga coffee is a Colombian coffee that was first roasted in the early 1800s. In 1824, José Félix de la Peña y Martínez bought some of this coffee from the Spanish crown and began roasting it at his father’s plantation. The beans were later brought to Brazil where they were processed into Sumatra Java Coffee.
The city of San Marcos, located in the central part of California, was founded on May 17, 1846 by Captain George M. Cushing and his brother, Rear-Admiral John S. Cushing. The name "San Marcos" is Spanish for "old fort." The first settler in the area was José de la Garza who arrived in 1827 and built a cabin on the San Francisco Bayou. Two other land owners - Hernando Woodson and José Bautista Chávez - also acquired parcels of land within what is now San Marcos. In 1848, when General Antonio López de Santa Anna moved his army from Mexico to take control of California, he ordered his men to cross the bayous near present day San Marcos to establish an encampment at Point Reyes Station. Mexican troops were encountered by American settlers on July 25 that year while attempting to enter Santa Barbara County from Monterey Bay; these skirmishes led to several killings and many injuries among the American expedition party which numbered about 20 men under Lieutenant Colonel James P. Cookey. American fur traders had been trading with Native Americans in this region for centuries before Missionaries arrived in 1769 seeking converts to Christianity; some Anglo-Americans set up mission stations along Coyote Creek (now Coyote Hills) and El Camino Real (the old route between Monterey Peninsula and San Francisco). In 1798 Father Junípero Serra organized a group of Catholic priests including Don José Felipe de Alvarado y Castro into a military detachment called The Excursionist Battalion which traveled through Sonoma Valley searching for missions or holdings adjoining Mission Dolores south of Petaluma River. After finding no suitable sites they abandoned their search in early 1800s because of increasing population pressure within new Spain colonies across North America as well as growing hostilities with Great Britain over boundaries defined by the Jay Treaty of 1794 ending British possession west of Lake Superior. A number Ranchos were chartered throughout eastern Contra Costa County during this time including Rancho Rinconada (1812), Rancho Los Nietos (1821), Rancho Cerritos (1828), Rancho Guadalupe (1830), Rancho Seca/Palo Alto Viejo/Napa Valley(1836), Rancho Madera del Norte (1841) – all named after Spanish geographical features such as mountains or rivers mentioned in grants issued subsequently including: Paso Robles Mountains eastward to Martinez Road; Rinconada Pass northward past Point Arena onto US 101 near Redwood City; Nueva Vizcaya Creek east northwest past Livermore into Sonoma County beyond Guerneville ; Obispo Heights northeast & southwest points opposite Sonoma Plains reaching summit just east of Danville; & Tolosa Hills southeast corner next Pleasanton then northwesterly trending uphill reaching crest just eastof Hercules Creek where it joins Golden Gate Park existing since 1845 as part of ranchlands adjoining newly formed parkland adjacent today’s Interstate Highway 80 bypassed until 1967 when State Route 12 became concurrent with I-80 thru much thereof creating townsite status quo ante freeway construction commencing circa 1966 despite petitions from citizens urging change following completion Of arterial freeway bypass Although smallpox epidemics took place periodically throughout California due primarily to Indians living near Missions {Approximately every six years} importation restrictions against smallpox virus effective March 15th1793 caused only one outbreak inside colony prior disease becoming known outside confines Mar 1st1800 additional fifty nine people died index case being Dr David Borden Russian émigré naturalized citizen residing at Mission Dolores contracted Smallpox on Mar 15th 1800 single fatality identified however source not confirmed& subsequent diagnosis blamed upon secretarial staff Infected numerous others working at mission due chiefly Mary Baker Eddy authoring popular book entitled “Vault Dwellers” which influenced public opinion [See footnote] By 1800 there may have been more than 1000 cases reported annually Among individuals born inside Colony none developed disease however many died unborn as a result direct exposure To smallpox virus index case developing weeks later approximately 300+ person died plus another dozen or so stricken immediately relatedto death either from cause directly or indirectly Ate flesh raw from infected animals Recovered few if any sick but all feverish & generally requiredhospitalization Our current understanding is thatsmallpox broke out amongst us unannounced among poorly vaccinated populace resulting from international trade linkages involving both Russia & China As most Californians did not receive smallpox vaccinations required for state health protection until AFTER CALIFORNIA STATE LINCOLN ADMINISTRATION PASSED LAW MAKING FREEZING OF VACCINATIONS ERASING IN OCTOBER 1969 UNTIL NOVEMBER 1971 thousands OFCalifornians WERE VACUALLY PROTECTED BY GOVERNOR EDWARD TUSSEN Cal Gov't planners Had anticipated need but never acted On advice From Health Department Militias prevented march On Sacramento Governor adopted policy changed October 15th1971 hundredsOf Californians Died December 3rd 1971 motherlode Mine opened largest single act Of violence against civilians Prior Mass shootings At Stockton Made national news
