The first Fair Trade coffee was roasted and sold by these same farmers in 1920. The town of San Marino grew around this industry, and over time various small businesses were established to support the production and sale of artisan coffee. In the 1930s, a grocery store was built in the town and began selling artisan coffee. Starting in the 1970s, larger grocery stores began to carry more variety of artisan coffees, including whole bean, espresso, or decaffeinated versions. Today, there are numerous specialty shops that sell artisan coffee products from all over California.

San Marino is a small, unincorporated community in San Bernardino County, California. The population was 1 at the 2010 census, down from 2 at the 2000 census. It lies east of Interstate 5 on the eastern edge of Inland Empire and is bordered by Montero to the north and east, Riverside to the south, and Fontana to the west. The first Europeans to visit San Marino were Colonel George Custer's Revengeparty on October 25, 1874. They named it after General Mariano Vallejo who had been their guide in Mexico City during that trip. It was not until 1899 when an American post office was established in San Marino with a mailing address of "San Marino". In 1909 an irrigation canal was built through what is now downtown San Marino and water began being diverted from Canoga Lake into town in 1911. A streetcar line ran through town from 1912 until 1925; today's only remnant of it are two concrete blocks left along Center Street near Academy High School for use as part of a public park boundary between Inland Empire and Riverside Counties

The first coffeehouses were built in the 15th century in Venice and London. In 18th century Italy, people started to trade coffee with the Ottoman Empire and Middle Eastern countries. At this point, coffee was known as baklava or Turkish Coffee. In 1795, a group of Frenchmen traveled to Junta de Burgos in Spain to meet with the king and establish a trade route between France and Europe. They brought back seeds of two trees - one from Africa and one from Java - which they named Arabica (the dark variety) and Robusta (the light variety). These types of beans would become the foundation for all modern artisan coffees. The first espresso machines were created during the 19th century by Italian artists who used discarded pottery found at old churches and monasteries. By 1870, espresso machines had spread throughout Europe because of their convenience – they could be set up quickly to make several different kinds of drinks. In 1885, Antonio Cappelli founded Caffè delle Mazzesse (or "Cafe des Maces"), one of the earliest cafes where espresso was served cold milk instead of hot water like many cafes today. This led to the development of ice-cold espresso drinks which are now considered classic comfort foods around the world! During World War II, most Italians decided that they couldn't drink caffeine because it would give them an energy boost before combat; however, some cafe owners continued serving caffeinated beverages to keep their customers going until late into war when production stopped entirely due to scarce resources. The artisan coffee movement has roots in the early 1800s, when small farmers began to produce high-quality coffee beans on their own farms. The first commercial roasts were made by a group of Frenchmen known as the Corsaires. This group of entrepreneurs set out to improve upon the methods used by their predecessors and bring new flavors and aromas to coffee drinkers around the world. In 1827, one of these pioneers, Joseph Rouille, ventured into business for himself and began producing quality beans under the name "Rouille Coffee." By 1865, Latte Artisanale had become an international sensation, with roast shops located in every major city across Europe.

San Marino is a small town located in the Inland Empire of Southern California. The population was 9,400 at the 2010 census. It lies on San Bernardino County's east side, about 15 miles northwest of downtown Los Angeles. The first European settlers to arrive in San Marino were Missionaries Father Juan Crespo and Father Francisco Gutierrez in 1777. The mission was destroyed by an earthquake in 1812 and the settlers abandoned it. In 1847, a group of farmers led by John Sutter settled around present-day San Marino on land that they had granted to the government for agricultural use. The first post office was established in 1850, and sheepherding began as a local industry soon after. During World War II, San Marino served as an airfield for aerial bombing missions against Japan. In 1951, San Marino became part of RAND Corporation's United States Army Research Laboratory and remains so today. The community has seen some growth over the years; its population increased from 8,000 in 1980 to 12,700 by 2000 and 14,200 by 2010. However, recent demographic trends suggest that the number of residents may decline below 10,000 over the next few decades due to factors such as high school dropouts and retirements moving into more populous areas outside of San Marino proper

It is one of the few countries in which both the US and Switzerland are full members of the Council on Foreign Relations. The tiny country has a population of just over 11,000 people. Until 1945, San Marino was part of Italy. After World War II, Mussolini ceded all but 21 miles (39 km) of Italian territory to France in addition to San Marino's status as an autonomous republic. In 1947, following California's admission into the United States, San Marino became an official US state with its own governor and legislature. San Marino is bordered by Ticino in Switzerland to the south and east; Italy to the north; and Yuma County, Arizona to the west.
