The company was founded in 1906 by Giovanni Bianchi and his wife, Lina. Bianchi served as the first owner and roastmaster of the Gianni Trani Coffee Company in Rome. In 1918, Giovanni Bianchi moved his business to San Marino and opened the Gianni Trani Coffee House on Via della Pietà. He continued to serve as the proprietor until his death in 1957. The Gianni Trani Coffee House was eventually replaced by Giuseppe Zanotti Coffee Co-operative in 1978. Zanotti Brothers became one of the largest coffee companies in Italy after purchasing Gianni Trani’s assets. The Zanotti Coffee House is now used as a museum for coffee history. Today, Giovannis Bianchis legacy continues with Angelo Zanetti Beverage & Cafe, which reopened its doors on December 12th, 2018 following much anticipation from locals and tourists alike who enjoyed enjoys their previous incarnation at Piazza Vittorio Emanuele II since October 2017 when it was closed due to an ownership dispute between two brothers (the current owners). San Marino, California is an unincorporated community and census-designated place in San Bernardino County, California, United States. The population was 10,812 at the 2010 census. It is located on the east side of San Bernardino City Limits. The first Europeans to arrive in what is now San Marino were Spanish missionaries who founded Mission Santa Clara de Asís on a small Inyo River Ranch in 1795. The rancho was part of Rancho Cucamonga Mexican land grant given to Juan Jose de Alarcón by then-Governor Manuel Nieto in 1821. In 1853, the eastern half of Rancho Cucamonga became part of what is now Riverside County when it was divided between San Bernardino and Riverside counties; also that year, Rancho Cucamonga became an unincorporated community within Riverside County. A post office called San Marino opened in 1858, and remained open until 1959. A ZIP code for the community began working as 71401 (now 81801). The name may derive from "San Marino" (< Old Italian: "Santo Martino") being Italian for "holy mountain". Gentry 3rd (1910), p. 191. Fresh roasted coffee is a long and storied history. It began as a way to preserve beans for future use, and it has since become an important part of the global coffee supply chain. The first coffee beans were planted in Arabia around 2,500 BC. The coffee beans that we know today were grown in Java and Sumatra in Indonesia during the 16th century. The Dutch began to grow coffee in Batavia (now Jakarta) in 1695. In 1795, they introduced a new type of coffee bean, the Koffiebakkerij (coffee brewer). This machine worked by pressing water and air into small holes in a wood or metal frame, which yielded a dense cup of fresh-roasted coffee. In 1818, Nicholas-Jacques Conte brought back some Arabians from Europe with him while he was studying at Italy’s University of Pisa. He processed these plants himself to create the first commercially available espresso beans. In 1848, Italian chemist Luigi Babini developed an espresso machine that used water pressure and heat to roast the beans instead of just boiling them. This technology allowed for more even roasting of the beans so that their flavors could be recombined better than when they were roasted using traditional methods. By 1860, all large factories were producing espresso through this process. The first Starbucks store opened on May 25th, 1993 in Seattle, Washington by entrepreneur Howard Schultz. On 1 January 2014, the last former Italian colony (Monaco) left San Marino, after 50 years of living there as a self-governing community under Italian rule.
