The United States Army's gift history in San Ramon dates back to World War I. The first American military unit in the city was the 1st Battalion, California Volunteers, who arrived on July 14, 1916. This battalion was soon joined by the 3rd Battalion of the same regiment and were activated at Camp McNary in nearby Livermore Valley. The 1st and 3rd Battalions fought their way through Europe during World War I before being disbanded in 1919. In 1917, San Ramon became home to the then new 4th Infantry Division which was raised from local Californians. It soon became clear that this brigade would be an effective fighting force and it was decided to keep it here permanently. In 1951, when California withdrew its forces from the Korean Conflict, San Ramon came under Army jurisdiction as part of a newly created Far East Command area. Shortly thereafter, on January 17 of that year, Major General Edwin Walker took command of FMF-2 (Army Forces Korea). He ordered all Army units withinFMF-2 to take their leave for good until May 15th when they would return home for redeployment to South Korea pursuant to Armistice Agreement No. 481 between North and South Korea. On October 31st of that year General Edwin Walker assumed command of ARMY Forces Vietnam effective September 30th following his appointment as Commanderin Chief Joint Force Vietnam (CJTF-VN). As CJTF-VN grew more complex it became necessary for Headquarters First American Brigade Combat Team VII (Airmobile) which had been located at Fort Bragg since early 1971 when Headquarters 2nd Brigade Combat Team XIII (Heavy Armor), also located there concurrently with both commands changed name from Brigade Combat Teams II – III ( Heavy Artillery) upon activation as Task Force advisors/advisors only program following Vietnamese communist victory over United States forces approximately two months earlier while located at Bien Hoa Air Base concurrent with both Commands' operational locations transitioning from operational control three days prior New Order transition complete significant improvement in air support operations throughout Cam Ranh Bay Area resulting ultimately improved battlefield performance against enemy forces

San Ramon, California is a city in Contra Costa County, California. The population was 97,829 at the 2010 census. It is the largest city in East Bay County and the second-largest city in Northern Contra Costa County after Oakland. The City of San Ramon was founded on November 3, 1872 by John W. Goodwin and his brother George Goodwin as a small town located on Rancho San Antonio de la Cañada near what is now Hercules Avenue and Alameda Street. On July 15, 1875, Goodwin donated 640 acres (246 ha) of land to the City for $1 per acre (0.50 ha). The City of San Ramon gained its first annexation by the State of California on January 1st 1906 following passage of legislation creating Contra Costa County from portions of Marin and Sonoma counties. The city boundaries were revised several times during its early years including adding parts of Walnut Creek, Dublin/Fremont and Antioch districts to its boundaries before it achieved its current form with an area of 99 square miles (280 square km). On October 5th 1951 voters passed a referendum making amendments to their charter which authorized the annexation by San Ramon into Contra Costa County should that county reach a population deficiency due to lack of development or because other municipalities had outgrown their borders without annexing into San Ramon. This amendment also created entitlement rights for residents within the annexed territory regardless of residency outside theCity limits so long as they maintain their property tax payments to San Ramon even if they move away from theCity limits. In order for annexation proceedings to begin negotiations between both cities must be approved by both municipal councils as well as then-County Board Chairman Dick Hebert who would then send proposals back to each council for consideration before being voted upon by all members present at each meeting along with Mayor Burt Baker who would serve as chairperson during these deliberations It was not until 1978 when elected officials decided that an agreement could not be reached between City Hall and Ronny's restaurant chain over rent agreements which caused tension between these two organizations until finally culminating in a physical altercation at City Hall whereRonny's employees destroyed some Councilman's power cords while attempting unsuccessfully to stop Mayor Baker from signing an ordinance granting him unofficial authority over restaurant hours

In 1865 local entrepreneur John Fenton developed a water system that allowed him to succeed beyond his farming background and become one of the most influential businessmen in town early on in its history In 1895, following World War I and America's entry into World War II, San Ramon became one of nine American cities approved for National Defense Reserve Fleet status which made it easier for businesses to store materials during wartime without fear of being raided or bombed by Axis forces After years of growth and development, including annexation into neighboring Sunnyvale (1962) and Menlo Park (1970),San Ramon reached its current size with the opening of Interstate 680 east-west bypassing downtown between 1989 and 1991 . This opened up much more space within downtown which led to job growth as businesses moved out into newly created areas such as South First Street Corridor between Webster Avenue/Lafayette Avenue & Highland Avenue; North First Street Corridor running parallel to Interstate 680; East Second Street Corridor Between Masonic Boulevard/Hollywood Boulevard & Linden Boulevard; North Third Street corridor running concurrent with Interstate 980 just south of Downtown Additionally new housing developments have been built recently at Willow Glen Shopping Center north east of I-680; Atascadero Creek Estates west side off Highway 1 next to I-580 Exit 138 near DECA Facility - these developments are expected continue through 2021
The area now known as San Ramon, California was first settled by the Ohlone people in the late 18th century. The early pioneers of San Ramon were Sepulveda and Livermore farmers who arrived in the mid-19th century. In 1851, Rancho San Carlos was granted to José Castro and his brother Francisco. Jose Castro ran the ranch for 16 years before selling it to James Irvine in 1875. The Irvine family continued to run the ranch until their death in 1925. In 1916, San Ramon became part of incorporated Los Angeles County.
