In 1853, post office activity began with my arrival of P.O. Box 8061 from Sacramento on horseback In 1860s came another group who called themselves "Los Angeles Gold Miners". This group included 5 brothers named James Waddell who had left Oregon for this new land – what is now Santa Clara County - seeking treasure rumored to be located in Sutter’s Mill gold fields about 25 miles north of Lassen National Park! These miners discovered significant amounts of gold but no one ever knew how much until 1886 when an American prospector found a vein bearing 1/4 ounce per tonne! From then on it became known as “The Golden Spike” because so much gold was found there! all over these hills! So many people were looking for this property that there was not enough space available for them all!! wagonloads eventually filled up Mission Adobe along Center Street just south of today’s intersection of Third Street and Fourth Avenue !! One reason why this area got a lot more development during those early years was because there were few trees around here so people had to build decks or go out and chop timber!!! Today you can still see some evidence of these pioneer days including Posts old cabin still standing right next to El Camino Real !!! Many businesses have been established in this area since then such as Chevron, Applebees (now Papa John's), Starbucks etc., making it home to many large companies like Google, Facebook & Amazon… remaking downtown Roamson Shopping Center into one big mall with many high end stores Added insult to injury recent construction going on adjacent to IMAX theater has really taken away some breathing room !!! In spite though everything going On Downtown we are keeping our spirit alive by hosting annual 4 day music festival celebrating local musicians plus food & drinks specials

San Ramon is a city in Northern California, located about 25 miles (40 km) east of San Francisco. The population was 29,815 at the 2010 census. The name comes from the Spanish word "sancion" meaning punishment and "ramón" meaning oak tree. The first Europeans to visit what is now San Ramon were Juan Bautista Cabrillo and his barkboat, La Pinta, on October 15, 1769. They charted the coast of present-day California and named it Isla de la Cruz for the large oak tree they saw on their voyage. Mission San Francisco De Asís was founded in 1821 by Father Junípero Serra and Father José Ortega y Gasset, with land grants from Spain. In 1847, Congress passed an act creating a new county called Contra Costa County with area taken from Alameda County. On July 16 of that year, three men wearing Mexican uniforms attacked Captain Lorenzo Canby's store at Point Lobos before being arrested by English soldiers under General John A. Cavagneri. In 1848 Ygnacio Vallejo surveyed part of what is now San Ramon Peninsula and named it after him as Rancho Santa Clara de los Vallejos . In 1850 Coyote Hill was burned down by miners seeking gold near modern day Menlo Park . A more recent history begins in 1865 when American prospector James Wickersham discovered oil shale near present day Livermore . This led to rapid growth in adjacent towns around Refugio State Beach due to its potential for oil production On December 12th 1915 President Woodrow Wilson issued Executive Order No., “Permanent National Monument” designating Refugio State Beach as such On February 6th 1916 United States Geological Survey official report maps arrived which designated Refugio State Beach as Area C – Part I of Gold Field District #1 covering all parts of Southern California lying between Anza Mapitico Creek and Antioch seamounts including much of this township includingRefugio State Beach while Area B – Part II included only easternmost portions lying east or south Of Antioch mapitico Creek including most areas now within City limits
