The first postmaster was J F Cramer who arrived on July 1st 1903 and served until his retirement on October 12th 1915; he had been appointed by Governor Alvarado after recommendation from Mayor Campbell who saw promise in him because he knew nothing about postal service affairs! Mrs A M Leach took over from him when he retired and she continued until her death on November 2nd 1938- making her one hundred ninety-sixth consecutive female postmistress!
