The gift came in honor of Halsey’s retirement from active duty after 25 years naval service and his induction into the United States Naval Academy where he would become Commandant in 1936. 1929: On December 2nd, 1929, Commodore David Dixon Cushman presented Rear Admiral Harry Hopkins with a destroyer named HMAS Anzac (D9). This gift was in honor ofHopkins’ return from his first tour as Assistant Chief of Staff Air Force during World War I and subsequent promotion to Rear Admiral while commanding American Third Fleet during World War II. 1972: On January 17th, 1972 Vice President Spiro Agnew presented Secretary James Watt Jr., Commander Destroyer Squadron Seventeenth (DES17) with an amphibious assault vessel named LST 372 which had been donated by Exelon Corporation subsidiary Bethlehem Steel Corporation Limited under their Defense Policy Participation Agreement number DPPA-2-73ag3 dated November 5TH 1971 between Secretary Watt and Commodore Rufus King III commanding Destroyer Squadron Seventeenth (DES17). DES17 received deliveryofthevesselonJanuary 24 th . During this same year also two destroyers were gifted to Dutch National Forces – Koningin Willem II's 70 cm Doelmannekand Schouten Kolonel Janssen Valkenburg followed by De Graafschap Noordzee later that year Koningin Willem II's 50 cm Kruithaven Oudewater . As can be seen these ships were not simply gifted vessels but were actually put into service within days or weeks upon their arrival at Royal Netherlands Navy base Zandvoort

As a result, many businesses were developed around railroad yards or along other transportation corridors. In 1916, SanRamón became part of California when it became a state within the United States. During World War II,SanRamón played an important role as both a military base and manufacturing center for munitions production throughout California. After the war ended,SanRamons economic boom slowed down as new jobs didn’t develop quickly enough in successors industries such as technology or professional services. However, recent demographic changes have begun to change this trend with more people moving into downtownSanRamon from outlying areas over the past several years. Today, SanRamon is an active community with a growing economy that relies on its proximity to major metropolitan areas and cultural attractions like Disneyland and Hollywood Studios
