In 1951, American Joe discovered a shipment ofbeans from Brazil and decided to start selling them here too. This initial success allowed AmericanJoe to become one ofSanRamon’s most significant commercial entities during this time period. AmericanJoe continued manufacturing their beans here until 1976 when it merged with Jura Binautobotschwerft AG (JURA) to form Swiss-based Jura Bean Incorporated (JBI). It was only after purchasing JBI that USJoe ceased production altogether and closed its doors for good in 1984. It wasn't until 2007 that SANRAMON COFFEE FOUNDATION was founded by a group of locals who were interested in preserving our city's history and flavor profile while also supporting local businesses throughout the greater Santa Clara Valley region
