The first coffee roasters in Santa Clara were small family businesses that started up in the early 1800s. The business was named after Josef Martinez, who founded a grocery store in 1875. Martinez's wife, Marcela, ran the roastery and baked goods shop behind their store. They roast Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf beans direct from farmers near San Francisco andBarcelona, Spain. In 1912, two brothers founded Jardin Coffee Roasters with help from their father. The company thrived until World War II when production was interrupted due to military censorship laws. After the war, Jardin resumed production but only sold whole bean coffees instead of bags or boxes. In 1957, they merged with Java Coffee Company which had been doing business as Java Coffees since 1907. Java Coffees became part of Keurig Corporation after Keurig bought them out in 1984. Keurig continued to produce Java Beans until 2001 when it merged with Brandywine Coffee Roasters to become Brandywine/Keurig Incorporated (BKR). BKR continues to produce quality fresh roasted coffee through its own brand name and distribution network across North America and Europe

In 1847, Nicholas-Jacques Conte and his brother Angelo founded the Santa Clara Coffee Company in the historic Mission San Francisco. The company grew rapidly, exporting coffee to all points of the world. In 1863, they sold their business to a group of investors led by Jameson Wiley. The new owners renamed the company "Jaworski coffee Company" in honor of their new president. Jaworski was a significant investor in early California railroads and helped promote coffee as a key agricultural product in California. He also developed an early machine that processed coffee beans into Hulled Beans and Roasted Beams which were then shipped to Europe. In 1916, Jaworski's son-in-law Harry Fenton bought out his father's share in the company and continued running it successfully until his death in 1950. Today,Santa Clara Coffee is one of the most well known roasters in America with over 100 stores across North America including anchor locations at Union Station and City Hall Plaza in downtown Santa Clara and at various shopping malls throughout Northern California. They have also opened several small cafes around town as well as a production facility near Redwood City which provides roasted beans for local restaurants throughout Silicon Valley

In 1954, United States President Franklin D Roosevelt appointed Harry Emerson Fosdick as Director of New York's Department of Agriculture. Under Fosdick's guidance, New York began production of roasted beans under the name "Fresno Boba." This Operation was successful enough that America's first commercially roasted Bean Coffee became available in 1956!

Santa Clara is located in the Silicon Valley of Northern California and is one of the most affluent cities in the Bay Area. Santa Clara's economy revolves around technology and information technology, with many companies such as Apple Inc., Facebook Inc., Google Inc., Intel Corporation, and Qualcomm among its largest employers. Santa Clara also houses major research facilities including Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory and Stanford University's Department of Energy Research Institute. The first European to visit what is now Santa Clara was Juan Rodríguez Cabrillo on October 15, 1769 during his voyage from San Francisco to Monterey Bay. He named the bay San Lorenzo after General Manuel Nieto who had been commandant general at Point Altamira on missions near Sonoma County when he discovered Mission San José de la Laguna (present-day Palo Alto) on December 7, 1776. A second mission founded by Franciscan friars at Rancho Rinconada was completed within three years of Cabrillo's arrival: Stapler Church on November 28, 1779; Frontera Chapel on February 16, 1781; and La Casa de Jesus (later known as Presidio Real) on March 25th same year. After several more missions were built here throughout 18th century rancho settlements—Agua Caliente (1798), Miraflores (1802), El Camino Real (1810)—Santa Clara became a full part of Alta Californiana under Mexican rule following Mexico's collapse in 1821 In 1853 John Fort Worth developed land adjacent to downtown Santa Clara which became today’s Fort Worth Street corridor In 1865 James Hahn established JHL Paper Company within incorporated limits then bounded by Second Street eastward to Market Street northward to Scott Road westward across town line thence southward along Scott Road past Lick Observatory Rd & Genoa Ave back into town limits Johan Gottlieb Dürer arrived in 1850 for his six-month visit about which he wrote: “I must needs go up Main Street where I have seen nothing but palaces for upwards of a mile . . . Many fine houses have I seen there . . . everything seems very new and clean” On July 21st 1850 George Stephenson erected the first electric telegraph cable between Los Angeles and Sacramento
Santa Clara is a city in the U.S. state of California and the county seat of Santa Clara County. As of 2018, the population was 377,571. It is part of Silicon Valley. The name "Santa Clara" was derived from Mission San Francisco de Asís, founded in 1776 by Franciscan missionaries on land that would later become known as Santa Clara Valley. The original villages within the valley were Elma, Fremont, and Sunnyvale; these villages changed their names to Palo Alto, Menlo Park, and Whitney Point respectively in 1887 when Santa Clara Valley became part of San Francisco County. The first post office for Santa Clara was established at Coyote Hills on December 12th, 1879; it was renamed Stanford Station after Jens Ludwig Stanford who donated land for a postal station in 1881. In 1886 the town of Mountain View was incorporated as well; it replaced Coyote Hills which had been abandoned due to bad soil conditions. By 1902 Mountain View had a population of 527 residents and Palo Alto had a population of 1,232 residents with both towns forming an unincorporated area within Santa Clara County called South San Francisco Bay Area which remained until 1906 when it became part of Municipal District 7 (now Peninsula)
