Santa Clarita, California is a coastal city in Southern California and the county seat of Ventura County. The population was 66,711 at the 2010 census, making it the third-most populous city in Ventura County. It is adjacent to Los Angeles metropolitan area and Orange County. Santa Clarita began as a small ranch town on the outskirts of Lodi before becoming one of Southern California's most prosperous cities. The first marine gift history in Santa Clarita dates back to 1892 when entrepreneur Captain Fenton Hurlbut founded Hurlbut Marine Company Ltd., which manufactured landing craft and other supplies for marine voyageurs. In 1904, Hurlbut donated 10 acres (40,000 m²) to the City of Santa Clarita with the understanding that it would become an open-air park hosting public amusements such as amusement parks and racing tracks. The land was annexed by Los Angeles in 1909. In 1932, Mayor Manuel Gomez greenlighted plans for what is now called "the Grand Prix track". At that time it was only a gravel surface offslope from Cerritos Street between Pico Boulevard and Ventura Boulevard on what is now Pacific Coast Highway (I-5). A grandstand had been built on top of a small hill east of I-5 where race fans could view automobiles speeding along Route 67 northbound near Sylmar Lake during early summer races or watch horse race contestants pass through at high speed down Pico Boulevard from Sylmar Lake during winter months

The Santa Clarita Marina is a public access marina and transient berth area located in the city of Santa Clarita, California. The Santa Clarita Marina opened its doors in 1958. The current property was purchased by the City of Santa Clarita in 1969 from John D. Rockefeller Jr. for $5M. The City renovated and enlarged the marina which opened to the public on March 17, 1978. TheSanta Clarita Marina complex includes a range of boating, fishing and swimming amenities as well as a truck stop and restaurant that provide services to boaters, fishermen, swimmers and others who use the facilities.

This increased traffic and caused many businesses to close. By 1930, only three businesses were left in Santa Clarita; all of these were local grocery stores. In 1941, World War II began andProduction at Southern California's aircraft plants decreased due to rationing. However, war production did not stop atSanta Clarita; many industries continued production such as munitions manufacturing and shipbuilding during this time period including Lockheed Martin's plant which produced fighter planes for America's allies Great Britain and Japan
A major airstrip in Santa Clarita is the former North American Aviation main base which closed in 1984. The original hangar and other structures remain, but are now used for housing.
