In 2013, Monterey County accepted a Chinook helicopter from Sikorsky Aircraft Company; this helicopter is currently being used by Marine Corps Base Camp Pendleton for Search and Rescue operations. As with any donation made to any county or organization, special care has been taken in selecting each aircraft for use within that jurisdiction.
