Upon arrival at her destination on Tuesday night, she disembarked her passengers and sailors before sailing back to San Francisco Bay on Wednesday morning.

The first Europeans to visit what is now Santa Cruz were Spanish missionaries who founded missions in 1795 and 1800. The Coast Miwok tribe occupied much of what is now Santa Cruz County before they were expelled by the Mission Indians in 1812-14. In 1846, during Mexican War (1846-48), General Joaquin Manuel de Mendoza y Tolosa landed at Point Reyes Station on Monterey Peninsula and ordered all Native Americans living east of Point Reyes be killed or driven out. A group led by José Delgado started south from Monterey for Santa Cruz with about 40 men on July 8, 1846, encountering resistance from local Native American tribesmen including the Warm Springs Band of Mescalero Apache Indians and up to 50 Natives from nearby Rancho Rinconada. On July 12th they reached Punta Gorda Cove where Delgado stopped for water but no one followed him because some had deserted en route; he then continuedsouthward along present-day Highway 101 until he arrived at Beale Street near present downtownSanta Cruz on July 15th In 1850 Lieutenant Governor James Wolk moved his capital from Monterey to Sacramento so that Central Valley sites could become state capitals as a result of new California legislation passage that year called "An Act to establish State Capitals". In 1851 Mendoza left central valley for Los Angeles when Mexico cededCalifornia to America following its war with Spain over succession to Mexican Empire; however, Mendoza's successor as governor Regis Proctor moved the capital back to Sacramento in 1857 because of frustration with Wolk's decision not to allow Californians west of San Francisco into the state as part of their admission into America. Because Sacramento was still antediluvian compared with other national capitals such as Washington D.C., it became an important crossroads for trade between East Bay counties and Northern California during this period due largely to its location on both sides of the Donner Summit River which connected these regions politically, economically and culturally

Santa Cruz is a city in the San Francisco Bay Area on the coast of Santa Cruz County, California. As of 2015, the population was 113,571. The city's namesake is Santa Cruz de la Musa y Navidad (Nativity Stone), located at 2nd and Mission Streets. The mission was founded by Franciscan missionaries in 1795 and completed in 1821. The history of Santa Cruz stretches back to 1805 when entrepreneur John Blythe chartered an ship called "Beagle" from England for transportation across the Pacific Ocean to sell goods from his ranch in Mendocino County. When he reached Monterey Bay, he decided to establish himself permanently in what would become Santa Cruz. In 1825, Blythe founded a town named after him on Seal Beach Boulevard between Second and Third streets; it became known as "Blytheville." In 1849, American citizens helped found post office at Point Reyes Station which later became part of Santa Clara County. In 1861, during the American Civil War, General George Armstrong Custer passed through Santa Cruz with his cavalry detachment on his way to fight against General Ulysses S. Grant’s army near Napa Valley. In 1863–1864 Union troops burned down twenty-six buildings including Blytheville while stationed there; this event is generally considered to have started the current downtown district around Masonic Temple Square today. On July 4th 1865 United States Commodore Perry anchored off shore just south of present-day downtownSantaCruz as part of a visit by Ulysses S. Grant during which Perry offered land for schoolchildren living miles north along US 101 that had been underdeveloped because no white person had set foot there since 1800 BC! Commodore Perry's visit also marked beginning of rapid growth in downtownSantaCruz with more than 1,000 residents by 1870! On December 5th 1898 local voters passed a resolution endorsing annexation by San Francisco due to economic reasons brought about by World War I - this led to very rapid growth annexing other nearby villages such as Guerneville (1902) and Morro Bay (1907). Today most people believe that annexation was motivated more out of political correctness than anything else!
