Captain Ziegler started making espresso (now known as caféAmericano) from Arabica beans he bought from Tomás Brizuela in Venice, Italy in 1831. By 1836, Captain Ziegler had also founded what became known as La Posada de Santa Fe Springs with Antonio Arango, who ran it until his death in 1888; then it passed through several hands before it came under the ownership of Don Carlos Castilla y Menocal who developed it further into what we know today as Starbucks Corporation..Castilla y Menocal sold it to Sam Adams Brewing Company (now Starbucks) in 1986..It wasn’t until 1992 when Mexican businessman Jorge Ramos acquired control over Castilla y Menocal’s interests that fresh roasted coffee began being served at Starbucks…Today many people within SantaFeSprings consider themselves “coffeepians” because they enjoy fresh roasted coffee every morning whether its at home or at one of our local cafes such as La Posada de Santa Fe Springs..

The first espresso shop in Santa Fe Springs, California was opened in 1912 by Italian immigrants Angelo and Maria Giannini. The coffee was roasted on the premises. In 1916, a café called La Caffè Europa opened and served coffee until 1919. In 1924, the Gianninis started their own roasting company and began to serve their coffee directly to customers in their business district of Santa Fe Springs. In 1932, Angelo passed away and his wife continued running the business until her death in 1984. In 1941, Italian immigrant Luigi Corona opened the first drive-in espresso stand in Santa Fe Springs with two machines. He served Italian-made espresso drinks with fresh roasted beans from his own farm near San Bernardino. In 1959, Swiss immigrant Baron Schiele reopened an old brewery called Pfeiffer’s Brewery which had been closed for years. He began serving coffee from his restaurant inside the brewery as well as freshly roasted beans from his farm outside of Santa Fe Springs. In 1961, he added a drive-through window so customers could order their espresso drinks directly from him instead of having to go into the brewery itself which at that time was only open for lunchtime hours! Baron Schiele died in 1966 but his legacy continues today with multiple locations across Southern California serving delicious espresso drinks!

Santa Fe Springs, California was founded by Juan Manuel de la Hoz in 1867. It is located in San Bernardino County and has a population of over 151,000. The area that would become Santa Fe Springs was first inhabited by the Mono people. In 1853, José Joaquin Cámpora y Valdivia discovered gold in what is now downtown Santa Fe Springs. A man named George Goodwin made an unsuccessful attempt to found a mining camp at the site in 1865. By 1888, there were three businesses operating out of downtown Santa Fe Springs: The Grapes of Wrath Saloon and Cafe, The Western Star Hotel and Restaurant, and the Depot Inn Railroad Station. By 1903, there were ten businesses operating out of downtown Santa Fe Springs: Herald-Herald Cafe & Saloon, Pueblo School House Cafeteria & Grille, First National Bank Building & Trust Company (later First American Bank), Masonic Temple Building (now the Park Plaza Hotel), Mineral Wells Drug Store (now known as Empire Mine Museum), Goodyear Tire & Rubber Plantation (now Casa Grande Casino Resort), Pioneer Hall reclamation project which involved dredging the creek which connected Downtown Santa Fe Springs with residential areas to the south and east. In 1906– 1907 Mexican revolutionary Eduardo Duhalde occupied Southern California during the Mexican Revolution as part of his Plan del Norte campaign against General Porfirio Diaz. As a result of this occupation, many Mexicans who had been living in Southern California for years began moving north into Northern California to find work on farmlands or other jobs opportunities while they awaited their opportunity to return home once Diaz's rule ended. This migration led to increased competition for jobs between Anglo Americans and Mexicans in Northern California; consequently, starting around 1907 business activity decreased along Main Street in Downtown SantaFe Springs due to lack of available workers from Mexico who could compete with Anglo Americans for jobs within city limits. During World War I both Spanish-speaking Californians and English-speaking Californians enlisted in military service outside of their homes country; consequently most Anglo Americans left town due to wartime shortages but some opted to stay behind because they needed work on farms or other munitions factories located nearby such as Pomona munitions plant or Weitzel munitions plant which closed after World War II because production stopped due to technological advances like television production capability developed by Warner Bros.; however many locals decided not leave town during wartime austerity periods when incomes plummeted because job opportunities dried up following post-war boom period characterized by high levels of economic development throughout Greater Los Angeles region attributable largely to influx of new immigrants - mostly Asian - into localized metropolitan areas during late1930s through early 1940s known as "The Golden Age Of American Cities". DowntownSantaFeSprings experienced significant redevelopment beginning around 1970s when city officials decided that west side neighborhoods adjacent Interstate 5 should also experience growth since these neighborhoods had been neglected for decades despite ample commercial development occurring within those same boundaries proximal thereto including much property formerly belonging exclusively to local Catholic bishops who used it for religious services only until 1981 when Bishop Manuel Gomez ordered demolition/repairs thereof citing safety concerns regarding possible influxes thereof of unauthorized residents seeking accessorial privileges resulting from growing Latino daytime populations near freeway). Because Interstate 5 runs through downtownSantaFeSprings redevelopment proceeded rapidly although some aspects - such as replacement or expansion/updates*of existing light rail lines - have been more sporadic given its distance from core city center; nevertheless overall attendance at major events taking place within city limits has continued uninterruptedly since 1976 despite occasional disruptions caused by traffic congestion caused by large numbers exiting/entering I5 every day simultaneously creating serious environmental problems resultant from intensive vehicle traffic No fewer than four major surface parking lots have been built on unpaved streets adjacent I5 thus further reducing open space atop hilltop surrounded by dense suburban development without corresponding provision whatsoever forogenic public transportation options thereby exacerbating environmental impacts associated with massive vehicular traffic jamming daily morning rush hour typically producing serious health risks meliorating very little if any long term solutions notwithstanding *see attached photo depicting garage lot immediately adjacent I5 where recently demolished building formerly housing Stonington Presbyterian Church prior To Its Demolition Photo beingTaken
