The Santa Fe Springs Police Department was founded on December 15, 1903. The department is currently made up of twenty-one officers and four detectives. The department's mission is to protect the citizens of Santa Fe Springs and its environs through the enforcement of law and order. In honor of the department's centennial, a gift history study has been conducted in Santa Fe Springs over the past year. This research included interviews with individuals who have provided memories or insight into police gift giving within the department over time. It should be noted that this research does not include any gifts given by current or former officers within the Santa Fe Springs Police Department as this would be considered personal information that could identify individual members of staff. One important aspect to consider when studyingpolice gift giving is how it has evolved over time.
