In 1932-1934, USS Quincy served as flagship for Commander Fifth Fleet during World War II Expeditionary Force maneuvers off Okinawa Shima. On December 5th 1934 while underway with ships task group TG 55–14 in support of Carrier Task Group 24½ “Hornet” carrier Task Force 58 (CV 8), sunk by Mine No: 21 (See Appendix A) while en route from Eniwetok Atoll to Ulithi Atoll she was torpedoed by Japanese submarine Isekai Maru #821 under command of Lieutenant Hashimoto Kiyoshi and sunk with all hands on board her after an epic battle lasting ten hours; killing all 22 aboard ship including 7 officers and 53 enlisted men including 3 Commanders (Lieutenant Commander James E Halsey commanding CVE 821). This event is commemorated annually by Sailors on ceremonial launch days when the new destroyer escort carriers CVN 78 or CVN 79 are commissioned as part of the Coast Guard fleet which includes destroyers escorting them home from their deployment area around Asia Pacific waters

Santa Maria, California is a small town in the southern part of Los Angeles County, California. The population was 2,871 at the 2010 census. It is located on the eastern edge of the city of Los Angeles. The name Santa Maria comes from Mission San Diego de Alcala, founded in 1769 by Fray Junípero Serra and named for Saint Mary of Alcala who had died in 1693 after being martyred under Spanish rule. The Mission was destroyed by fire in 1832 and replaced by another mission called Our Lady of Loreto. The name Santa Maria changed to its current form when a group of Englishmen traveling through Southern California heard about it from a Mexican peddler and decided to place anvils on their heads as Christ's gift to local farmers and ranchers. In 1887, placer mining began here and soon led to towns flourishing with shops, churches, hospitals and other infrastructure needed for large-scale industry. Mining ended around 1920 as oil became more affordable thanks to hydraulic fracturing (HAF). A period of rapid growth followed as Hollywood developed nearby but has since slowed down or stopped due to various factors such as an increase in crime rates in Los Angeles County; development elsewhere; competition from other cities; lack of residential property available near Universal Studios Park; etc. However, some aspects have continued such as new arts programming at Loyola Marymount University which opened up a new district called "University Village"; revitalization efforts happening along State Route 51 south of downtown that includes projects like Westwood One shopping center; growing population density along Interstate 5 giving rise to increased fuel costs associated with traffic congestion roundabout construction; etc.; resurgence within the community focused on artistic production (e.g., mural painting) highlighting social relevance over commercial benefits

Santa Maria is a small, unincorporated community in the Unincorporated territory of San Bernardino County, California. It was founded by Spanish colonists in 1824 and named for Saint Mary of the Rosary, an important saint in their Catholic faith. Santa Maria has a post office with ZIP code 92705. The first permanent settlement in what is now SantaMaria was founded on February 17, 1824 by José Hidalgo and his family from Arequipa, Peru. The town was originally known as Alta Verde because of its high elevation. A post office called "Alta Verde" was established at this location on May 12, 1825. The population of SantaMaria increased rapidly after Mexican independence from Spain in 1821 and gold began to be mined nearby in 1826. On November 3rd, 1828, the Mexican Land Grant No.: 5887 to José Pico de laHoz was issued making SantaMaria part of Mexico City; however it never reached populated levels and did not gain statehood until 1912 when it became part of the United States as part of California's admission into the Union. On July 21st, 1840 Governor Manuel Micheltorena sent Lieutenant Colonel Antonio Banderas with orders to retake Mission Viejo from Native American Indians who had occupied it since December 8th; however upon arriving at the mission he found that all but two days’ worth of food were missing and no Indians were present! This led Micheltorena to order Major Francisco Sanchez march through the missions possessions destroying any Indian evidence he found which caused much anger among many Californian settlers including José Hidalgo who believed that Mexico should have taken control over these Missions if they were attacked! A new mission was built just east of present-day Santa Maria on October 20th 1840 by Father Luis Migoya under instructions from Pope Innocent X following recommendations from Jesuits residing in Monterey Bay area about how to deal with native Americans living near Missions without causing them fear or provocation!mission San Miguel de Allende had been abandoned due to illness by Governor Micheltorena less than a year earlier; so this new mission served as both a replacement for San Miguel and also served as headquarters for all other missions located within Mexico City Departmentate (later Presidio) encompassing all Monterey Bay Region except Alta California! Mission San Miguel de Allende served as Headquarters until 1861 when Headquarters moved downriver to Mission Dolores which later became known as Cathedral Park (now Avenida del Rey). In 1865 Headquarters moved again southward across Paseo de la Reforma into what is now downtownSanta Maria where they remained until 1862 when they returned upriver back into Mexico City Departmentate again! From 1862-1867 Headquarters resided at El Charco Barracks which is now located at 2nd & Figueroa Streets inside Josefina Castro Recreation Center District
