The Roastery & Coffee Company merged with the Koptee Corporation in 1965, and the Koptee Corporation became a subsidiary of Peet's coffee company. In 1987, Peet's coffee company merged with Starbucks, and the Santa Paula Coffee Company became an affiliate of Starbucks.
Santa Paula (formerly, Spanish: Santa Paz) is a city in Ventura County, California, United States. The population was 452 at the 2010 census. The name "Santa Paula" is from the Chumash word ipa-capa meaning "holy place." It was first given this name by Father Junípero Serra in 1821 for an agricultural community he founded on the east bank of the Santa Clara River. The city began as a small settlement along the riverbank and later became an agricultural town on what is now part of Venice Boulevard. In 1872, four years after Father Junípero Serra's death, Santa Paula incorporated as a City and named it in his honor. After two more years of incorporation, on December 6, 1875, Santa Paula adopted its present name - Santa Paula County - through referendum supported by citizens angry over what they saw as improper handling of funds received from grazing operations near Los Angeles. At first growth was slow due to lack of transportation and other resources; however with completion of the Santa Clara Valley Railroad in 1888 and increased commerce brought about by new mines and mills within easy commuting distance (the opening of Los Angeles also helped), growth rapidly picked up during Earle Chandler's run for Governor in 1893 and subsequent runs for office (and ultimately led to annexation by Los Angeles). Today there are over 20 agencies operating out of downtown due largely to private investments which have helped support job growth throughout most of downtown including businesses that once were off limits or only accessible via streetcar or bus service

The first Café Nègre was opened on December 5th, 1912 by Erik Kapp as a way of introducing European-style espresso to Japanese people. By 1925, more than 1 million cups of espresso had been brewed at Café Nègre alone. Santa Paula is a small town in the Central Valley of California, located northeast of Fresno. As of the 2010 census, Santa Paula had a population of 3,671. The town was founded by Juan Bautista de Anza and his wife Ana Margarita Alvarado in 1849 as an agricultural village on Rancho San Pablo. The first post office in Santa Paula opened in 1857. The town's name may be derived from Saint Paul's Cathedral (now part of UC Berkeley), which was built in 1837 by José María Chávez and dedicated to the Blessed Virgin Mary. In 1865, the United States Exploring Expedition led by American naturalist named John Muir discovered Mono Lake at nearby Point Conception and renamed it after St.Paula because then-Governor Manuel Micheltorena proposed that Mono County become a state within California. In 1860, Don Miguel Fletes bought Rancho San Pablo from José Castro for $2,500 and developed it into one of the largest ranches in central California. With over 115 miles (185 km) of roadbed and over 50 adobe homes, Fletes became one of the most powerful ranch owners in central California during this time period. He also played an important role in developing Santa Paula as a township with its own government and school system during this time period
