The Coast Guard was first established in 1917. At the time, there were no proper ways to send gifts to friends and family back home on the East Coast. So, a group of men decided to form a secret society and name themselves the "Crests of Santa Paula". They would go out and collect gift baskets from people along the coast, bringing them back to their headquarters in Santa Paula. The founders of the Coast Guard truly believed that these baskets would bring joy and happiness to those who received them. Over time, this tradition has continued and even grown more popular among members of the Coast Guard. The Santa Paula Coast Guard Station was created in 1922 and is one of the oldest coast guard stations in California. The station patrols the waters around Santa Paula, Ventura and San Luis Obispo counties.
Santa Paula is a city in Ventura County, California. The population was 25,898 at the 2010 census. It is the smallest of the seven cities in Ventura County and its population density was 1,609 people per square mile (621/km²). The first Europeans to visit what is now Santa Paula were Spanish missionaries in 1769. Juan Bautista de Anza led an expedition from San Francisco overland through present-day Ventura County on December 12, 1777, and discovered the route of Los Angeles Bay. Captain James Cook sailed by Santa Paula Bay on his third voyage around Cape Horn on November 16,1779 while exploring the southern coast of South America; he named it "Praia de la Socorre" (Bay of Mercy). The town began as a mission station founded by Mission Santa Paula del Monte on April 24, 1836. On February 14, 1868–1869 Mexican soldiers under General Antonio López de Velasco burned down the mission buildings at Sutter's Fort to punish American settlers for supporting Mexico during their War of Independence. A new mission was founded at present-day Fillmore Street and Olive Avenue on May 6th Railroad Avenue in response to this event. The original mission building still stands today as part of Fillmore Street Park across from City Hall Annex. In 1886 local rancher John Copley built what became known as Copley Ranch just east of downtown Santa Paula with land that had been donated by him and other ranchers who populated what is now Sage Valley east of downtown Santa Paula after discovering gold nuggets there in 1876 (). For many years there have been annual Fourth of July celebrations here marking this event with a parade through downtown streets flanked by farm fields before concluding at nearby fillmore park which offers picnics and games for all ages (). After World War II most residents left for jobs outside agriculture or moved away entirely when prices for farmlanddrove out many small farmers within one generation () but some families remain here year round (), especially those who live near creeks like Hillcrest Lake (). Many businesses continue to operate here including restaurants such as IHOP (), Blockbuster (), Taco Bell (), Safeway (), KFC (), Wendy's ($) etc., along with small shops like hardware stores (.45 caliber handguns are not allowed) and independent pharmacies (). In recent years retail development has taken place opposite Interstate 5 near State Route 1010 exit 9 which includes several large chain stores () such as Sears(), Macy's(), JCPenney(), Kohl's(), Fred Meyer()) among others ().

Santa Paula is a small town in the California Central Valley, located about halfway between Fresno and Bakersfield. It has a population of about 9,000 people as of 2010. Santa Paula was founded in 1853 by Mary Ann Dirksen and her husband, Jacob Dirksen. The first post office was established in 1854. The town was named for Saint Paul, Minnesota, on Dirksen's family's farm. In 1875, the San Francisco Bay Bridge was completed just south of Santa Paula; this caused rapid growth in the town and made it an important transportation center. Manufacturing became a major factor after World War II when local farmers turned to corn farming to meet increased demand for food exports from Asia. However, during the late 1990s and 2000s recession the economy went into decline; although there have been some improvements over the past decade or so, most residents still live below poverty lines. The history of Santa Paula goes back many years before that; there are stories of Native Americans living here before Spanish traders arrived in 1769 seeking trade goods with Mission San Gabriel Arcangelico (now known as La Jolla). There were also ranchos (large landholdings) and haciendas (small holdings) here prior to European settlement. Some evidence suggests that early settlers may have beenOf Mexican descent but others suggest that these early pioneers were possibly Anglo-Saxon or Scandinavian immigrants who came downriver along what is now Interstate 5 from Northern California looking for new land to settle after experiencing difficult times during the Gold Rush era (1848-1849). Once they had found their new home they started developing it around their own interests rather than depending on others for helpstarting with building roads/canals/water systems etc., which then led to industry developing around these developments instead of becoming either dependent upon outside sources or simply dying out due lack of interest originally! By 1850 there already existed at least one breweryHere at what is now called Church St.; however it is likely that even earlier breweries such as those mentioned above may not have survived due to difficulties obtaining licenses & approvals from government officials!). In 1951 factory closed due to Nonconformity laws
