The Santa Rosa Coast Guard Auxiliary was organized in 1912. The Auxiliary first served as a support organization for the local Sheriff’s Department. In 1916, the Auxiliary purchased its own boat, the “Dolphin,” and became a full-blown coast guard agency. The Auxiliary continued to grow and expand its capabilities through donations of new boats, equipment and personnel. In 1934, the Auxiliary acquired their first helicopter – an American DeHaviland AH-1 Cobra – which they used to conduct Search and Rescue missions on various California beaches. Throughout its history, the Santa Rosa Coast Guard Auxiliary has been a vital part of coastal community life in Santa Rosa County. Today, the Auxiliary continues to provide law enforcement assistance on both land and sea while also providing opportunities for volunteers to help with many different tasks including education and emergency response services.

Santa Rosa, California is a city located in the southern part of California. The population was 103,827 at the 2010 census. The name Santa Rosa originated from the Spanish word "santorrea," meaning "holy cross." In 1821, when Mission Santa Rosa de la Vega was founded in present-day Santa Rosa County, Sr., A.P. Hill named this new mission after Saint Rose of Lima (1492-1555), patron saint of Spain’s Californian missions and a figure associated with evangelism and military resistance to Mexican rule. The City of Santa Rosa was incorporated on December 24, 1887. It became an independent city on April 15, 1912 following passage of a city charter by the City Council. On July 14, 1916 the United States Congress passed legislation stating that all cities in California were to be given their own police department during World War I except for Santa Rosa which remained under Federal jurisdiction until it became an independent city again on October 1, 1916 On November 11th 1915 Japanese Naval forces bombed US Naval Base San Francisco while American soldiers and sailors fought off what turned out to be only minor skirmishes;damage done to civilian homes as well as damage done to NavyBase caused extensive public outcry throughout Northern California over what seemed like deliberate sabotage against both the United States Navy and Republic Of China's Army effort during World War I In 1923 Mayor John Condon formed a committee chaired by developer Edward Joneson called “The Committee To Promote Civic Improvement In TheCity Of Santa Rosa” responsible for creating many of today'sculinary attractions including Joe's Pizza & Pasta Incorporation later merged into Papa John's Pizza company During WWII much activity took place within downtownSanta ROSA with most notably Target being established in 1945 however because there were no real restrictions placed upon commerce within the inner city limits consequentially businesses outside of downtown suffered greatly during that time period due primarily thereto lack thereof zoning regulations !!
The Coast Guard has been providing service to our country for over 120 years. As a guardian of the nation's shipping lanes and waterways, the Coast Guard has a unique history and culture that can be seen in their gift history. One of the earliest gifts given to the Coast Guard was a boat. In 1885, Congress passed an Act authorizing the construction of 20 boats to support coastal defense. The first boat was launched on October 10th, 1885 by Rear Admiral George Dewey on board USS Constitution (CGN-5). Since its inception as a service organization, the Coast Guard has made donations both large and small. Over time, they have donated many items including: radios, cannons, uniforms, vessels and more.

In 1847, a group of American settlers named Santa Rosa founded the town on the site of present-day Santa Rosa, California. The town was first known as "New Market", and then "Santa Rosa". The name change to Santa Rosa in honor of General Francisco Xavier de Santa Rosa y Arellano, who was governor of Alta California under Mexican rule at the time. The first post office in Santa Rosa was established in 1851. The townsite passed through several hands before becoming part of Rancho San Luis Rey in 1871. In 1906, the land that compose today's city limits were acquired by the City of Santa Rosa from Rancho San Luis Rey for $1 million. On November 26, 1886, during his annual visit to Northern California, President Grover Cleveland dedicated a monument toLt. Gov. James Wickersham at what is now Fort Point Park in downtown Santa Rosa to commemorate Wickersham's service as Secretary of War under Andrew Johnson during America's Civil War (1861-1865). In 1898–99 a severe drought struck parts of Northern California; consequently wheat production plummeted and prices for flour doubled within two years. As a result some farmers decided to abandon their crops and move away from Sonoma County altogether; however most continued growing corn and other vegetables until around 1915 when irrigation became available through Trinity Dam Project west of town (Gardena River) making these types of crops more profitable again

The city was founded in 1868 by Antonio Canova, who named it after his patron saint, Santa Rosa de Tarragona. The first wine produced here was Cabernet Sauvignon.
