When Santa Rosa, California was founded in 1853, the town had no coffee. However, its farmers grew coffee trees and beans in their gardens. By 1901, when prohibition began to take hold in America, most of the country's large coffee plantations were producing this crop. However, Santa Rosa's farmers continued to produce coffee until 1975. In that time period, they produced more than two million pounds of bean. The first espresso machine was made in Santa Rosa in 1898 by Italian immigrants Antonio and Biagio Passarella. This device allowed for a much smoother cup of espresso than using a traditional pot on the stovetop. The machines became popular among local businesses and families who wanted a quick caffeine fix without going through the hassle of making their own coffee. Santa Rosa is home to one of America’s earliest co-working spaces: WorkSpace CA Inc., which opened its doors on May 9th, 2007 in an old bank building on First Street near State Route 7 (now Broadway). Santa Rosa, California is a city in Contra Costa County, California, United States. The population was 129,965 at the 2010 census. Santa Rosa is the largest city in Contra Costa County by population and the second-largest city in Northern California after San Francisco. It lies on both banks of the North Bay River and its namesake river, Santa Rosa Creek. The first Europeans to visit what is now Santa Rosa were Spanish mission traders who took pretense of visiting larger inland cities such as Monterey and San Francisco before continuing their journey downriver to points north. Captain Juan Rodríguez Cabrillo established his small vessel "San Antonio" nearpresent-day downtown Santa Rosa on February 14, 1542 for this expedition. The name "Santa Rosa" means "New Home of Jesus." A plaque commemorates Cabrillo's landing at present-day downtown Santa Rosa with an inscription that reads: "Here men from many parts of the worldocked together to seek a new home and found one which they have named after saints - St. Anthony of Padua and St. Francis Xavier." The town started as a small farming community along the banks of the North Bay River opposite present day Daly City until 1848 when it was moved upriver to create land for irrigation purposes at what is now Delta Junction railway station on Highway 24A (now I-580). In 1853 it became an independent municipality under Mexican rule following US annexation which removed most of Native American possessions east of 48°N latitude including Rancho undefined Mission where modern day Downtown Santa Rosa began operations as a hotel called Centennial Hall on September 14, 1853 by Wm Higginson becoming part of what would become known as downtown Santa ROSa during 1860s when 3rd Martin Luther King Jr.'s famous speech was given there while also located across Market Street from today's Kaiser Permanente Medical Center bounded by Main Avenue (northwest), Second Street (southwest), Bronson Place (south) and Webster Avenue ( southeast). On January 1st 1870 it became part of Suisun City Limits following incorporation by voters there over objections from nearby Livermore because $6000 appropriated for that purpose had not yet been expended earmarked for Suisun inclusion within limits subject to apportionment according to population size only 2 years earlier thereby violating state law requiring double apportionment among cities with more than 10,000 residents instead giving Livermore exclusive control over Suisun having received $4000 above its authorized appropriation plus interests & penalties originally assessed thereto against those who failed or refused duly to comply thus violating state constitution article XIII Section 5 thereof limiting Apportionment power exclusively vested in City Legislatures Article XIV Section 4 herein providing: While political boundaries are constantly changing through annexation/incorporation; demographic data published here represents historic boundaries between Municipalities within contra Costa county prior to January 1st 1870 inclusive." In October 1871 Democrat John Pemberton defeated Republican incumbent James Brougham in a special election held due largely to concerns about increased flooding caused by heavy rains associated with the wet season accompanying Mexico's War Of Independence Campaign slogan written on large granite boulder located adjacent courthouse lawn near current intersection Bronson Place/Webster Ave.: "Election Day—america’s first open primary—and we want you all around!" subsequently reelected unopposed every year thereafter until November 3rd 1875 when he retired due ill health; succeeded him on December 6th goes into permanent retirement effectiveJanuary 1st 1886 via proclamation issued by Governor George Hearn Angelenos elected James Leland Howe Mayor pro tem concurrent with term beginning February 17th 1886 until May 7th 1888 upon his death suddenly leaving office no successor appointed pursuant thereto unexpired term ending May 7th 1888." On July 25th 1890 Californian William McKinley won Ulysses S Grant's presidential election becoming America's 44th president resulting in westernmost county within U.S., Alameda County being admitted into Union along with Marin County making San Francisco Bay Area complete except for Oakland & Emeryville which remained separate municipally governed districts under direct federal jurisdiction

Santa Rosa is a city located in Fresno County, California. The population was 113,827 at the 2010 census. Santa Rosa became an incorporated town on December 15, 1887. The name of the town was changed to Santa Rosa by order of the California State Legislature on January 3, 1888. During World War II, Santa Rosa served as a camp for Japanese American soldiers and their families. The first permanent settler in what is now Santa Rosa were two brothers from Yamhill County named John and George Bouchard who arrived in 1848. They platted what is now downtown Santa Rosa on October 11, 1849 using land they had acquired from Manuel Nieto and others who had sold them Rancho Rincon de la Mesa east of present day Donner Street. In 1860 John Bouchard married Anna Maria Sutter and moved to Southern California with her three children; Ernest (1861-1941), Hazel (1864-1937) and Raymond (1867-1950). In 1872 William Irvine established a tuberculosis sanitarium at what is now known as Irvine Boulevard and Mission Road which soon became successful enough to open a second sanitarium called San Francisco Hospital near where it still stands today in 1901. This hospital also treated patients for cancer until it closed its doors in 1966 because of financial limitations caused by then President Lyndon Johnson’s administration changes such as healthcare reform that made it more difficult for small businesses like hospitals to stay open
Santa Rosa was founded in 1795 by Spanish Missionaries as a small post on the north shore of San Francisco Bay. The name "Santa Rosa" is derived from St. Rose of Lima, a popular saint associated with the city. In 1821, Santa Rosa became part of California and was named after General Santa Rita who fought against Mexican forces during the Mexican-American War. In 1848, following the admission of California to the United States, Santa Rosa became part of the newly created Polk County and was governed by a county board. After California's admission to the Union in 1850, Santa Rosa became part of Unitarian District No. 2 within Los Angeles County and eventually lost its independence when that district was dissolved in 1861.
