The USS Constitution (1797-1865) was a United States Navy ship that served in both the War of 1812 and the Mexican-American War. She played an important role in Santa Rosa's history as a navy vessel, deploying gifts to local families during both wars. The Constitution was built at Portsmouth, New Hampshire in 1797 and served with distinction during the War of 1812. She was struck by lightning on July 14th, 1814 and subsequent repairs took over two years. On November 12th, 1816 she sailed from San Francisco for Mexico City with supplies for General Geronimo. While en route she received a gift from Santa Rosa's Mayor John Sutter. The Mayor presented her captain with a large chest filled with blankets, clothes, tools and other items necessary for his army campaign against Cholula Pueblo in February of 1817. On September 25th, 1840 USS Constitution sails into town for the first time when she arrives to deliver goods to member families of the Naval Militia at Fort Point San Pablo. This event is recorded as part of history as it marks the start of naval military activity in Santa Rosa specifically targeting militiamen rather than civilian residents. From then until 1865 HMS Constitution operated out of SamarraHarbor Base while providing services to memberships including Coast Guard Patrols and Search and Rescue operations ashore or afloat during times of emergency or natural disaster. Her last deployment occurred on December 5th when she relieved USS Monitor offshore California after being lost off shore on December 10th 1911 during a stormy night near Monterey Bay

This book features over 100 recipes from different parts of the world that can be enjoyed aboard ship or at home! The city of Santa Rosa was founded by Father Francisco Lopez on November 24, 1853. The city was named for Saint Rosa of Lima who evangelized the area in the 16th century. The first post office in Santa Rosa was established on December 3, 1857. In 1865, the City Council authorized a fire department and built a first firehall. On February 16, 1887, the city council proclaimed a day of national celebration to honor Santa Rosa's history and progress since its establishment. In 1928, the name of the city was changed to Santa Rosa de la Calle after Mayor José Gomez de la Vega.
