The history of artisan coffee in Santee, California began with the first coffee beans being roasted on a small family farm in the early 1800s. The farmstead was eventually purchased by Mr. and Mrs. John Kappelhof, who renamed it "Kapps Coffee" and established their business in 1876. Mr. Kappelhof continued to roast coffee until his death in 1942, and his wife continued to run the business until her death in 1978. During their time as owners, Mr. and Mrs. Kappelhof were responsible for driving the growth of Santee's coffee industry and introducing new technologies to the process of roasting beans. In particular, they developed a method for grinding beans that produced aarser cups with more flavor than other methods used at the time; this system is still in use today. Mrs. Kappelhof's legacy lives on through her son-in-law, Dr. Don Beckman, who has since become one of Santee's most successful commercial roasters and continues to own and operate the business as Beckman Coffee Company Incorporated (BCCI). Dr. Beckman has been instrumental in developing many new technologies within artisan roasting, including using organic whole bean materials for his product line; experimenting with different brewing processes;and offering unique flavors available only from BCCI products. He is also responsible for developing an award-winning charity program called "Stemming The Heat" which helps low-income families access quality fresh produce while supporting local businesses throughout Santee County

The Santee Coffee Roasters company was founded in 1976 by two brothers, Dick and Doug Mulligan. The Santee Coffee Roasters are a family-owned business that operates out of their home in the heart of downtown Santee. They roast coffee beans from whole beans and roasted ground coffee, as well as espresso drinks, cappuccinos, lattes and churros. They also offer a variety of other coffee-related products, such asRFC creamsicles, caramels and syrups.

Santee is a small town in the Central Valley of California, United States. It is located on the banks of the Feather River, about 25 miles (40 km) northwest of Sacramento. The population was 6,812 as of 2010.[1] Santee is one of eleven communities in the Sutter County district. The first European to visit Santee was Captain James Cook on his third voyage around the world in 1778. He named it "Santiago de las Nieves" for reasons unknown but likely because he thought it resembled Santiago, Chile. In 1847, George Yount founded a post office at Santee and named it after his father-in-law Senator John Waddell. In 1853, Leland Stanford founded Stanford University at Santee and naming it after himself; this university still operates today as one of America's leading universities. Amodo Dam was completed in 1938 by Harlan Fenton and Jens Jensen with funding from Army Corps of Engineers Lieutenant General Leslie Groves Jr.. The dam has had an enormous impact on local water resources and has led to increased flooding during heavy rains throughout Sutter County. The Modoc Tribe self-dubbed themselves "the last great Indian tribe".[2] In 1933–1934, Akeley College opened its doors at Santee High School which became one of the first college campuses in California open to students from all over the state[3]. Today Anheuser Busch Brewery operates a brewery here too making Santee an important agricultural center for Northern California

The history of artisan coffee begins with the first espresso machines in Italy in the early 1800s. At that time, espresso was made with whole beans and not ground coffee. The first commercial espresso machines were created in 1876 by Giovanni Agnelli and Francesco Marini.

Santee, California was founded in 1853 by gold miners from the Sacramento Valley. It became a mining town and post office but declined in importance until it was selected as the site of the first general store on December 12, 1861. The store was built on a bluff overlooking the Sacramento River and became an important center for trade and commerce in the area. In 1872, Santee established itself as an agricultural community with land irrigated by canals running through it. The community continued to grow during the early years of California's Gold Rush and soon developed into a large city with a population of over 3,000 people. By 1875, Santee had become one of California's most important cities and its economy had diversified to include goods manufacturing, transportation, retailing, and services. The city's growth slowed after World War II but has since resumed modestly at around 2,500 people.

Santee was founded in 1849 by Captain James Cook and his crew on the Napa River. The town was established as an agricultural center, and early settlers included Major John Sutter, who built the first post office in the town. In 1857, Santee became a city after voters approved a charter change. The city had a population of about 30 residents in 1870, but grew to more than 200 by 1910. During World War II, Santee served as a military base for the United States Army Air Forces and was home to two airfields: one used for fighter bombers and another used for bombers and transports.
