Coffee was first grown in the area that is now Santee, California in the early 1800s. The first coffee beans were roasted on a small farm called Peet's Coffee in 1824. In 1850, Dutchman Adriaan Vliegenga bought the farm and renamed it "The adriaan vliegenga coffee estate" after his father. From 1851 to 1865, Vliegenga ran a large plantation in what is now Santee with over 100 acres of land. The majority of this plantation was dedicated to production of olives and almonds. In 1865, American promoter Wm. Henson founded the San Francisco Coffee Company with his friend and fellow entrepreneur John Cushing in San Francisco. Shortly thereafter, Henson began importing coffee from Africa and selling it under the name " Java." In 1868, he merged his company with another American business venture named Golden Rule Coffee Company to form yet another American coffee conglomerate-Golden Rule Coffee Corporation (GRC). GRC produced many different types of coffee including Turkish broad beans, Italian roast beans, Guatemalan dark roast beans, Ethiopian red bean coffees (known as Hario), Kenyan green bean coffees (known as Kenya Kaffe), Sumatran binturong beans (similar to Indonesian rupiah), Brazilian black cedar variations known as Pernod XO etc., among others. By 1922 GRC had become one of America's leading coffee companies and still operates today as part of Starbucks Corporation

The Santee coffee community has enjoyed many years of delicious coffee. In the early 1900s, a group of men and women decided to set up a grocery store in what is now Santee. They roasted their own beans and sold them directly to their customers. The coffee culture in Santee started to grow around this time, as people began to visit for coffee break or for Sunday morning caffeine fix.
Santee is a city in San Bernardino County, California, United States. The population was 24,818 at the 2010 census. It is the second most populous city in San Bernardino County after Riverside. The economy of Santee is based primarily on agriculture and tourism. The biggest agricultural employers are citrus fruits and vegetables, tomatoes, almonds, hops and other craft brewers. Manufacturing activities include carpentry, apparel production and plastics manufacturing. Tourism attractions include the Antelope Valley National Recreation Area and Ocotillo Wells Regional Park; Santee State Historic Park has a post office from 1853 to 1912; and La Quinta Resort & Spa offers year-round operation of an indoor waterpark as well as a golf course with championship status

This was the first time coffee had ever been given as a gift. 2. In 1912, The Duke of Windsor presented King George V with a cup of Arabica beans from Chile. This was the first time any country other than Europe had received this type of coffee from Africa. 3. On Christmas Day 1938, Franklin D Roosevelt gave President Franklin Roosevelt's favorite cup of Java Coffee to House Speaker John McCormack along with an offering for every member of Congress made between 1939 and 1941 totaling $5 million dollars! This was one of the largest gifts ever given in one year! 4. On Valentine's Day 1949, Harry S Truman delivered two sacks full (of ground Javanese roasts) to Richard Nixon at his presidential inauguration ceremonies! They were the only items sent by either president that day! It is also said that this event helped start America's Cup racing program!

Santee is a town in Northern California, located on the Pacific Coast. It is best known as the birthplace of author and naturalist Dr. John Muir, who settled there in 1871. He named the town after his uncle, James Waugh Santee, who was also an environmentalist. The town has since grown to include a number of other businesses and residences. The first settlement at Santee was made by European fur hunters in 1827 during what is now known as the Gold Rush era. The first settler was John Waugh Santee, who arrived with his family from Scotland in 1828. In 1830, he married Anna Maria Worth and they founded a small community near present-day Monterey Peninsula Airport. The couple went onto have six children and were both prominent environmentalists with strong ties to their community and countrymen across the continent. In 1871, John Muir came to Santee to start what would become one of America's most famous conservation movements - he became the first person ever to travel Alone through all fifty states visiting over 1,000 sites where wildlife had been loss or destroyed due to development or ranching interests alone! In 1880, he began working for “The Yosemite Review” newspaper as an editor before becoming its proprietor that same year. In 1895/96 he published his classic book "A Traveller's Narrative" which chronicled his journey from Yosemite Valley through Oregon into Mexico City (then called Vera Cruz) and finally returning home via San Francisco Bay Area; it was at this point that Muir became well-known nationally both within America and abroad! During World War II, when much of North America was under occupation by Axis forces, many people living within miles of key points like Monterey Peninsula Airport did not flee because they could not imagine living without their freedoms! Many residents chose instead to fight alongside their countrymen – some even going on patrols against enemy troops! Some residents still live in Santee today despite being evacuated during wartime; these are some of our most committed citizens!
