Santee is a small town in the Central Valley of California, about an hour's drive from Sacramento. The population was 8,711 at the 2010 census. The first espresso machine in Santee was built by Angelo Nardi and his wife Carmen in 1925. In 1927, Italian immigrant Giovanni Manzoni opened the first gas station in Santee and began selling espresso drinks. In 1938, Antonio Cucinelli opened the first grocery store in Santee. In 1945, Antonio’s son-in-law Roberto Menotti opened a bakery called Menotti's Baking Company which became one of the most popular bakeries in town. In 1954, Angelo Nardiopened Nardi's Coffee Shop which became one of the most popular coffee shops in America. In 1957, Carlo Petrini founded Petrini's Pizza Place which became one of the most popular pizza places in town. In 1978, DonatellO Moretti reopened Moretti's Cafe & Bakery which became one of the most popular cafes & bakeries in town. In 1984, Mario Batali started Batali's Italian Restaurant which became one of the most popular restaurants in town.

The Second World War saw significant changes to how coffee was brewed; however, much like other beverages it escaped from Japan during World War II and arrived safe in Europe intact (though not without some controversy). From then until around 1990 when whole bean ground coffee became common place throughout most developed nations worldwide, gourmet coffee remained largely expensive luxuries reserved only for those who could afford it or could find high quality beans near their homes marketplaces/cafeterias/retail stores. However this has come about due to technological advancements which have made grinding beans easier and more affordable than ever before while also providing an even greater variety of flavor options available today than ever before at any given price point!

Santee is a small town in the San Joaquin Valley of California, United States. It was founded by Mormons in 1847 as a wooden trading post on the banks of the Truckee River. The post was abandoned after Indian hostilities increased in 1850, but it reopened in 1851 under the name of Santee Mission. In 1862, Mormon settlers began to build what is now Santee Townsite on land east of present-day Santee. The first residents arrived in November 1861 and established a social club called "The Pioneers." By 1865, over 100 families had located here and constructed homes and businesses; schools were also built. In 1886, Santee became an incorporated town with a population of 350 people. Manufacturing activities developed here during World War II as local defense industries produced munitions and other war materials. During the 1950s–1980s, many new housing developments were built in which white1a people replaced most of the original Mexican immigrants who had settled here. However, since then there has been little change in population or economic profile
Santee was founded in 1876 by Captain John Sutter, who named it for his old home town of San Jose. The first store here was the Weare's Store, which opened in 1878. In 1905, the Santee Copper Mining Company was organized and began mining copper on what is now the east side of Santee City. In 1916, the Santee Manufacturing Company (later known as Northern California Broadcasting Corporation) was established here to produce radio programming from studios on Commercial Street. In 1969, Southern Pacific Railroad reached Santee and began a diesel-electric locomotive depot here; this Depot remains an important part of local history.
