When it comes to quality coffee, there are a few things that you can always count on. First and foremost, good coffee beans come from carefully selected trees that have been grown in(\ or near) a specific place. Secondly, the water used to brew coffee must be of high quality so as not to damage the beans. Lastly, the cup of coffee should be properly brewed with little or no foam and without any harsh chemicals.
The Santee coffee industry began in the early 1800s when French Missions located in the area began trading beans with Native Americans. The first coffee house was established in 1821 and by 1830, there were six coffee houses operating in Santee. By 1840, there were 12 coffeehouses functioning throughout the town. In 1851, a large warehouse was constructed on Church Street to store beans from local farms and provide retail service to merchants and residents of Santee. The first commercial roasting operation took place at this warehouse in 1857. In 1865, a small mill was built on Railroad Avenue to grind the beans for local consumption. In 1928, an addition was added to the mill which became known as “The Brink’s Coffee Shop” due to its proximity to Brougham Hall (now University) Campus. In 1937, Grafton Coffee changed its name to Pabst Blue Ribbon America Incorporated and purchased two properties adjacent to their old paper mill site on Highway 29 south of town – one containing a grocery store and another containing three blocks of office buildings which would become Pabst’s corporate headquarters until they moved out of the city limits in 1971. In 1945, after years of negotiation by numerous parties including United States Steel Corporation (USSC), Pabst merged with Jello-B-Jelline Corp., making them one company under one roof for about 20 years before splitting into two companies again in 2003 following antitrust rulings from US District Court Judge Gladys Kessler that favored Perrier over Jello-B-Jelline LLC regarding pricing practices related to product distribution between both companies). A new plant opened up on December 1, 2002 at 7100 block of State Route 236 just outside Santee; it is now called "Pabst Brewery". At present day it produces 16 million gallons per year of beer output alone!

The Santee Mission was founded bymissionaries in 1839. The first post office was established in Santee on January 28, 1850. The name "Santee" was chosen because it resembled a Spanish word for "saint." The town began to grow rapidly after railroad construction started nearby in the 1860s and 1870s brought new settlers and businesses to the area. By 1907, Santee had become an incorporated city with its own government and police department. Today, Santee is known for its dramatic cliffs overlooking Tulare Lake and its large agricultural industry that produces both fresh produce and livestock products such as camels, pigs, chickens, ducks, horses and llamas. There are also several restaurants and bars downtown which make up the local nightlife sector of life.

However, there is one topic that has always been around and had an impact on the coffee industry- quality coffee. One of the earliest and most well-known brands of high-quality Coffee was roasting house Kona Coffee. Started in Hawaii in 1959 by Kona Coffee founders David Ryu and Wahiawa Asahi, their goal was to provide customers with roasted beans that were “the best possible quality for their money” (Ryu). This meant using only the best beans from traditional farms in Hawaii while also being environmentally conscious. Since then, many other companies have followed suit with similar goals. One example is Starbucks which began selling its own branded coffees in 1992 as part of its effort to improve sustainability (Moses). They continue to roast their own beans at their roastery in Seattle today and use only premium Arabica beans which are handpicked for quality control purposes (Fowler). All of these companies have helped contribute to the growth of high-quality Coffee over the years.

Santee is a town in Contra Costa County, California, United States. The population was 2,839 at the 2010 census. It is part of the San Francisco Bay Area. The first Europeans to visit Santee were Spanish Jesuit missionaries on horseback in 1565. In 1846, George Hahn established a ferry service between Santee and Vallejo and began shipping goods from Vallejo to Stockton. A post office was founded in 1850, and the town name was changed to Santee in 1868 by order of Governor John C. Calhoun following approval of an ordinance changing the name of localities with more than 5,000 inhabitants to be given a suffix which could be used only once and no other place within that locality could have it (i.e., “Santiago”). In 1906, Danish immigrant Ole Christensen started raising chickens near Santee before moving them eastward along I-80 for egg production until his farm became too large for shipping birds; he then switched to growing potatoes on his landowning property north of town beginning in 1914. The Palouse Indian Nation (now known as Yakima) had been living there since about 1800 and their traditional hunting grounds lay just south of SantEE; they ceded these lands to the United States Government in 1912 because they did not want their young people forced off their ancestral homelands during World War I when they were taken into military service. The first retail store opened at 3rd & Mission Streets in 1922 by Charles Ransom II and Harry Wimmermann as two small stores combined under one roof due to limited space inside the original bank building which had been built as part of downtown redevelopment prior to World War I when most businesses closed down as war diverted industry away from Sacramento Valley townsfolk (the main transportation link between Sacramento and San Francisco). In 1848, gold was found in the area and development began. The Santee Valley became a major agricultural center after railroads were built to transport goods from other parts of California.
