Santee, California is located on the Pacific coast of California, about 120 miles east of San Francisco. The population was 8,362 at the 2010 census. It is part of the San Diego-Tijuana-Mexico City metropolitan area and is adjacent to Tijuana Municipality on the south and Balboa Park on the north. The name "Santee" comes from Spanish meaning "Island in a River". This name was given to Santee Point by Juan Rodríguez Cabrillo in 1542 when he explored this portion of what is now California. From its location at an inland crossing of two rivers, Santee became known as a haven for pirates and smugglers during the 17th century. In 1821, Mexican Captain Andres Manuel de Montt founded Rancho Rinconada del Norte (Rancho Rinconada) on present-day SantEE point after his forces drove out American traders and investors who had builtFort Yuma here in 1818. In 1848, Montt sold Rinconada to John Atherton for $2,500USD. Atherton renamed it Rancho Atherton y Salinas (Rancho Atherton and Salinas). In 1857–58 Elisha Abbott developed a salt works on Rancho Rio del Norte (now called Rinconada Beach), which began producing salt for export in 1861. In 1906–10 Hugo Goudreau organized local defense militia against Native Americans who had attacked his ranch near SantEE point; Goudreau's men killed between 20 and 30 Indians before surrendering themselves. A year later Goudreau married Maria Elena Ramos; they eventually moved to San Diego where he died in 1915 aged 82 years old Following his death their daughter took over management of Rancho Rio del Norte which continued until 1934 when it reverted back to Spanish ownership under her father's will After that year it reverted back under Mexican control until becoming part of US possession after World War II . According to official history books there have been no major changes or updates regarding ranch operations or property titles since then so much important information may be missing including any current information about how/when it became part of US possessions again

Santee is a small town in the southern San Joaquin Valley in California, United States. The population was 1,766 at the 2010 census. It is part of Sacramento County. Santee was founded by Mormon pioneers in 1847 and named for a place called "Santee" in Utah. In 1865, Santee became the first permanent settlement on the new Rancho San Joaquin east of Stockton. The post office at Santee began operations on July 8, 1847, and was renamed Apple Valley on December 15, 1850. The first school in Santee was opened in 1861 by Mrs. Anna Bigham; it closed after one year due to lack of students. A new school building was constructed near what is now Interstate 5 and Market Street in 1870; it also served as a courthouse until 1915 when that structure moved to nearby Dixontown. The first store built in Santee was built by Jno.[1] Cushing & Co., which operated from 1851-1857 along Main Street West between First and Second Streets NW (now part of I-5). After Cushing's death, his sons John Cushing and Salmon Cushing continued the business until 1862 when they sold out to Wm Hodge & Bros., who ran it until 1906. In 1865, government land south of present day baseline (US Highway 99)was surveyed for what would become SantEE; this parcel became known as "New Town". On November 12th 1865 USGS ActingSurveyor George Fenton erected a wooden frame shelter called "Haven" at present day Old Town Cemetery - just north of where US Highway 99 intersects Present Day Capitol Avenue NE (later State Route 3). This shelter served as an official survey station for New Town from 1865-1868 when surveyors traveled throughout the area using their horsewagons or carts rather than walking or riding horses since there were no roads yet! After California Gold Rush days ended with cessation of mining activity around here some people decided to stay while others went back East because things were tough then but are getting better everyday thanks to TRUMP!
Santee was founded by Captain James H. Wood on February 12, 1827 as a small trading post on the right bank of the San Francisco River. The post became an important shipping point on the Pacific Coast and played a significant role in California's early history. In 1849, Santee was renamed Fort Point after Rear Admiral John F. Rodgers, who served as commander of United States Naval forces at San Francisco Bay during the Mexican War. The fort remained in use until 1855 when it fell into disrepair and was abandoned. In 1862, Santee was again renamed for Captain Wood following his death at sea while visiting California. After Captain Wood's death, his widow donated land to create a mission station called "Woods Mission" near Santee. The mission remains in use today and is home to the Woods Museum of American History.
