Saratoga is a small town located in the Central Valley of California. The population was 9,711 at the 2010 census. It has been inhabited by Native Americans for over 10,000 years. The first European to visit Saratoga was Juan Rodríguez Cabrillo on September 3, 1542. He named it San Miguel de Asis after his patron saint, and he settled there with his family in 1545. In 1846, General Winfield Scott founded Fort Yuma here to protect the route from Mexican forces waiting for the United States to annex California. After the war ended, San Fernando County was created from parts of Santa Cruz and Monterey counties and included Saratoga as one of its townships. The post office at Saratoga opened in 1848 and remained open until 1926. The first school in Saratoga opened in 1851 and continued operation until 1954; today it is a museum dedicated to education within the Latin American community which also offers classes for adults. In 1865, John Muir came through Saratoga on his way southward to visit Yosemite National Park and decided that this beautiful valley should be preserved as a park rather than destroyed by settlement or farming processes like wine production which had devastated other valleys nearby such as Mono Lake . So Muir started an organization known as "The Sierra Club" to help preserve these natural areas around America's most visited national parks . In 1932, Mayor Roosevelt announced plans for a new highway bypassing Saratoga so that development could begin along Highway 99 instead (the current alignment of Interstate 5). This plan failed because locals fought against it tooth and nail; they argued that without access to their town center they would lose their jobsites and essential services necessary for life There were protests throughout much of 1933 but eventually when interstate construction began nearby things changed again with businesses opening up all around town making more money than ever before while people lost their homes values plummeted

The original Saratoga was founded by fur trappers in 1827, and it grew to be a small community with about 150 residents. In 1848, when the Gold Rush began, Saratoga became one of the first communities to swarm with miners and their families. By 1852, however, Saratoga had all but disappeared from the map as gold dust started flowing out of the ground in greater volume than anyone could source. It wasn't until 1862 that an incoming wagon train discovered what had once been Saratoga - it was then known as "The Mines." By 1865, most of what remained of Sarataga had been destroyed by fire; only a few homes remain standing today.
