Saratoga, California is a small town in Northern California that sits on the eastern edge of Yosemite National Park. The town was founded in 1849 by Jedediah Smith and his wife Sacagawea, who came from the Kiowa nation. Saratoga quickly became a center for wagon trade and mining, with gold being discovered at Anza-Borrego Springs in 1855. The history of Saratoga can be traced back to when Jedediah Smith first settled down near Yosemite Valley in 1849. He and his wife Sacagawea were part of the Kiowa nation and had been travelling through California for some time when they finally reached Yuba County in March of that year. After landing on Mayacoma Island, they started their journey upriver until they reached their current location near Yosemite Valley. Here they built their first cabin which served as their home for several years before moving out into the open country to start trading goods with local Native Americans. early explorers such as Juan Bautista de Anza also stopped here on their way eastward along what is now Highway 395 (Crowded roads always caused him problems!). Over time new settlements began to form around this area due to various reasons such as finding good land or water sources or simply because people wanted a place where they could raise crops or build houses! One example is West Moberly which was established by Nathan Sutter in 1853 after he discovered rich mineral deposits nearby! It wasn't until after John Cushing arrived here from Sacramento County two years later that things really started warming up! Cushing was an American gold prospector who had recently come across large amounts of gold nuggets while exploring North America's far east flank! This led him to find some other great veins too - including one right next door to where we now sit! Eventually enough settlers formed groups together and lobbied hard for incorporation into what would become Montgomery County! The effort eventually paid off and within three years Sarataga had its own government - complete with its own jail, courthouse, schoolhouse etc!. As more businesses cropped up around town it soon became quite busy - something that still stands today thanks largely to all those talented artists who have relocation here during this time period: famed painters like Edward Hopper, Jasper Johns etc!. However despite everything going well for Saratogans until about World War II things went downhill rapidly afterwards... Despite being one of the most heavily populated areas outside of Los Angeles county (!), during that time it experienced rapid growth rate (in fact even surpassing downtown LA!) but unfortunately nothing lasted forever - especially not after WWII!!?!? So much happened during those three decades that it's hardTo keep track just how many different places we've movedXD;;;;;; Anyway back onto topic... During WWII there were lots of military installations built right nearby like Pahrump AFB & Fort Irwin(which incidentally closed down last year)... so naturally there were tons of military personnel living closeby too!!! But apart from all the noise & commotion everyone else seemed quite content...except maybe for all those pesky squirrels!!!
