The Seal Beach Coast Guard was established on December 6, 1933. The first officer in charge was Captain John McCullough. At the time, Seal Beach was only a small town and the Coast Guard had to be organized quickly to provide backup for local law enforcement. The original seal of the Coast Guard is interesting because it has a white star on a blue background. This symbolizes the neutrality of the Coast Guard and its commitment to providing support for both public safety and coastal communities. Over time, different colors have been used on the seal, including green during World War II when boats were used as targets; black during California's drought in 1975; and red in honor of our country's Armed Forces (Army, Navy, Marines) who have served here since 1941. Today, we continue to promote patriotism by using this unique emblem to represent our dedication to homeland security and maritime protection. Seal Beach is an unincorporated community in Alameda County, California, United States. It lies east of the city of Oakland and west of the city of San Francisco. Seal Beach is a popular tourist destination for its crystal clear waters and soft sand beaches. The community's name comes from the sound waves made by ships as they pass through the nearby Strait of Gibraltar. The first Europeans to visit Seal Beach were Spanish missionaries in 1821, who built a small mission on Point Lobos Hill. In 1852, a group of Englishmen led by Captain Robert Hutton discovered oil wells in what is now Seal Beach and began operations. By 1865, oil production had driven out Mission Santa Cruz as the town's primary commercial center and much development followed; early seal hunting reserves were developed here (e.g., Point Lobos Marsh). However, with Beaumont Oil Company's discovery at Refugio del Prado in 1923, seal hunting again became a major industry hereabouts; today it remains one of Washoe County's most significant economic sectors (though some residents commute to Bay Area jobs). After World War II many families moved to Seal Beach from Tracy because of its good job prospects during wartime-now known as "the war years migration". Many people still live there today although they no longer hunt seals or fish anymore due to environmental concerns about using great resources like oil that have been depleted over time without any replacement plan or management.

Seal Beach is a small town in San Diego County, California, United States. The population was 7,451 at the 2010 census. Seal Beach is located on the Pacific Ocean and is east of downtown San Diego. It is bordered by Carlsbad to the north, Encinitas to the northeast, La Jolla to the east, and Miramar to the south. The town was founded by Leland Stanford in 1887 as "Stanford Beach". The first post office opened in 1892 with mail being delivered from one of Stanford's property holdings on Long Island Sound. In 1907, an expressway was built through Seal Beach connecting it with larger towns such as Carlsbad and Encinitas. In 1940, residents voted to become a city and Seal Beach became one of San Diego's first metropolitan areas. Over time it has undergone many changes including becoming an all-ages entertainment district during the late 1990s; hosting several Formula One races each year since 2002; becoming more diverse with its current population made up of people of all ages, religions and nationalities; and now being known for its annual surfing championships which take place just a few miles away from town center. Today's seal beach community began developing rapidly after World War II when large numbers of veterans returned home from abroad and started businesses such as seafood restaurants and boating stores along Withycombe Drive (later renamed Seaward Boulevard). These new arrivals were followed by other groups who wanted to get involved in what had once been a relatively backwater outpost: retirees who bought properties near Interstate 5 or moved into single-family homes; businessmen who established their own businesses around what had been once amateur fishing grounds; students who came for college courses or worked at nearby universities; families who brought their children while they looked for jobs closer to home. In 1978, Seal Beach voters approved creating a city charter that allowed for more rapid growth due to concerns about possible annexation by neighboring cities such as Carlsbad or Encinitas should they achieve statehood later that decade. By 2000 there were over 100 businesses open in downtown Seal Beach alone compared with only 10 years prior when most businesses were either catering specifically to military personnel stationed at Naval Base Stockton or serving local fishermen out onshore. Today downtown Seal Beach continues to grow despite competition from adjacent neighborhoods which have seen increasing development opportunities within walking distance of each other - much like their counterparts throughout much of coastal California following World War II when war-time troops returning overseas created waves of newcomers eager learn about this unique corner of America
