The U.S. Air Force has a long and proud history of deploying gift baskets to celebrate air force holidays and special occasions. The event will include a flyover by an F-16 Fighting Falcon squadron from Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson in Anchorage, Alaska; honored guests including Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger and United States Senator Dianne Feinstein; and parade through downtown Seaside followed by dinner at the Harbourfront Inn. This year's theme is "Auld Lang Syne" - meaning "old times are gone" - so expect several traditional air force items such as quilts, pillows and T-shirts to be among the items donated by local businesses including restaurants and hotels along with some new arrivals like remote control planes or helicopters!

In 1990, Seaside became home to then-Marin County Supervisor Don Pappalardo after he won election to succeed retiring supervisor Russ Starkenburg at a time when Marin County was under federal jurisdiction due to its shared border with Contra Costa County. In November 2017, Pappalardo announced he would run for re-election unopposed in 2020 despite accusations of corruption which have dogged him throughout his career including Rancho Cucamonga Mayor London Breed who unsuccessfully challenged him in 2018 and former Supervisor Noël Marchetti who defeated him two years earlier In recent years there has been vocal opposition against Measure J which would see significant development at Wachtel Beach - oneBoard member even went so far as to call it "the most negative vote I've ever cast." This opposition has come from people who claim that high densities will lead to building near open water areas where fish populations are vulnerable and seagull nesting areas are critical habitat for several species including harbor seals and petrels which local fishermen rely on for their income; furthermore, many say that no one knows what impact Measure J will have since plans have not yet been released nor do they understand how much money will be spent without proper public consultation or scrutiny
