The United States Air Force has a long and rich history in Seaside, California. The first mission of the USAF in Pacific Theater was World War II, when the air force's 1st Bombardment Wing attacked Japanese positions at Guam. Since then, USAF presence in Seaside has grown steadily with the addition of bases at Edwards AFB and McGuire AFB. In 2006, USS George Washington (CVN 73) became the first US Navy ship to visit San Diego since 1945 when she visited Naval Base San Diego on her way to participate in Operation Neptune Spear. Airlines that have served out their time at Sea-side include Air America; American Airlines; Delta Air Lines; Northwest Airlines; United Continental Holdings Inc.; and Vickers Airways Ltd., among others. Some notable residents who have been associated with this area over time include Mayor Harry Seibert and former Governor Gray Davis. The city also hosted the world's largest open-air market for agricultural products called "The Green Valley Fair" from 1962 until 1986 when it was replaced by the current event known as "LA County Fair". Today, Sea-side is an important hub for local government function such as police services, fire departments, schools and other public services that are conducted from its various buildings throughout town center including City Hall Annexe which houses all city agencies except for health care; Superior Courthouse Complex which houses most criminal court proceedings statewide; Municipal Building - which house both City Council Chambers (where ordinances are passed) as well as chambers for state AGs (the Attorney General); Post Office building - where mail service is provided including express delivery service to adjacent counties; Health Care Facility - run by Kaiser Permanente Care System - providing healthcare services to approximately 2200 patients/day while Housing Authority provides housing programs apx 5000 units

The squadron was organized at an airstrip near San Diego. -The squadron's first aircraft were purchased in early 1943 and it began operations as part of Eighth Air Force. During World War II, the Fighter Squadron flew Lockheed P-38 Lightning fighter planes. -In 1945, when Japan capitulated and the war ended, the Fighter Squadron was disbanded. -The squadron's last aircraft were sold in 1953 and it was inactivated.
Seaside, California is a town located on the coast of Southern California. The population was 9,890 at the 2010 census. Seaside is known for its idyllic setting on a rugged coastline and its wide variety of businesses and services available to residents. The earliest evidence of habitation in Seaside dates back to 3000 BC when the region was occupied by the Gabrieli people. In 1848, Commodore James K. Polk sailed past on his way from Mexico City to Vera Cruz and named the bay after himself, in honor of General José Joaquín de Herrera y Sanz de la Zúñiga, 1st Viscount Don Carlos de Borbón y Pons-Lloyd. In 1886, following years of construction work by city officials and local citizens, Seaside became a town under state jurisdiction. The first post office opened in Seaside on July 1, 1888. By 1902, there were over 20 businesses in Seaside with an average annual income of $10,000. During World War II, many civilians who lived near beaches went into hiding during the Japanese attack because they knew that if they were captured or killed they would be executed as war criminals by the Japanese military authorities. Many locals also took advantage of this situation to start their own businesses during wartime times since there was no business regulation at that time and most businessmen were middle class or poor individuals who did not have any formal business training or experience whatsoever. The town's economy quickly recovered after World War II thanks largely to new technology which allowed for Abbot Kinney Boulevard becoming one of the most heavily traveled roads in Southern California due to its proximity to major shopping centers and other tourist attractions located in nearby Playa del Carmen and Hermosa Beach). Additionally, much new development has taken place throughout downtown Seaside over recent decades resulting in increased population density (currently around 100 people per square mile). This growth has caused some problems however as well such as traffic congestion along certain streets which can lead to gridlock while other streets are generally unaffected by heavy traffic congestion but become congested during peak hours due to limited space within each intersection
