As a coffee lover, you may be aware of the history of artisan coffee in Seaside. This unique and flavorful beverage originated in the early to mid 1800s, when small-time farmers started roasting their own beans and selling them direct to consumers. Today, there are manyartisan coffee shops scattered throughout Seaside and adjacent towns. The first known shop that sold artisan coffee was The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf on Dundee Street in Seaside Heights in 1892. At this time, it was one of the only businesses in town that carried different types of coffees from all over the world. From Africa to Chile, these specialty stores were an important part of the local community and helped to develop the town into a popular tourist destination today. Today, there are many talented individuals who continue to roast and sell their own unique artisan coffees. Some of our favorite local cafes include The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf (which is still open), Joe's Cafeteria, The Neptune House Restaurant, Blue Bottle Coffee Company, and Malibu Creamery. All serve delicious fresh brewed espresso with several different flavor profiles including light roast (coffee), dark roast (baked goods), decaf (milk), iced coffee, or even hot chocolate!

In 1892, a group of Italian immigrants founded the Café Loews in downtown Seaside and began selling espresso drinks. The coffee shop was popular enough that it continued to operate until 1935. The first café on California Avenue in Seaside opened its doors in 1912 and served Italian-American patrons until 1955. From there, the cafe's popularity spread throughout town, with branches opening up in various neighborhoods. Eventually, Cafés Loews became one of the most well known and successful cafes in town. Over the years they continue to serve high quality coffee for our customers who come from all over California and beyond!

Coffee was first brewed using bushes of Arabica beans that were roasted on small, family-owned roasters in specific areas of Italy. The Italians introduced their own methods for brewing coffee and this led to the development of espresso machines.
Southeast California's Seaside is a seaside town on the southern coast of San Diego County. It is located just south of Interstate 5 and east of I-805. The town was founded in 1876 by brothers Harry, John and Augustus Earhart, who named it after their favorite spot on the Outer Banks of North Carolina. Sea Side had a population of 238 in 1990 and 375 in 2000. The 2010 census found that the population had increased to 498. As of 2019, the population remains at 498 people living primarily within Seaside’s downtown core and its surrounding areas including nearby Pacific Beach, Carlsbad Caverns National Park, and Shelter Island State Park
The Seaside, California community of Seaside Heights was founded in 1868 by Captain John F. Stevens and his wife Sophia. The Stevens familymigrated from England to the United States in 1847 and settled in seaside section of Santa Barbara County. In 1868, Captain Stevens organized a company to build a wharf on the southern end of town and name it Seaside Heights. The town became a thriving little community with businesses such as Mrs. Stevens' bakery, the Joicey Lumber Company, and Mr. Geddes's grocery store among its residents. By 1895, Seaside Heights had become an incorporated municipality with a population of over 100 people In 1910, Seaside Heights merged with neighboring OceansIDE to form what is now known as OCG Beach consequence of then-Governor James Irvine's decision to create new municipalities at both ends ofSanta Barbara County for more efficient government operations. OCG Beach remained an incorporated municipality until 1978 when it became part of the newly created city of Ventura
