Seaside, California is a city located on the Pacific Ocean in San Diego County, California. As of the 2010 census, it had a population of 46,883. The city was founded in 1915 by citrus farmers and fishermen who built their homes on longitude 37°08'00"N / 122°53'00"W. The original name for Seaside was "Port Hueneme." In 1922, the town's first post office opened and was known as Port Hueneme until 1951. The name change came about because then-Mayor John Romero wanted to distance Seaside from the Hueneme Naval Air Station which lay just south of town. In 1957, Mayor Sergio Martinez proposed that the town be renamed Seaside after World War II veteran Admiral Chester W. Nimitz who served as Commander in Chief of United States Navy forces at Pearl Harbor during Japan's attack on December 7th 1941. Nimitz's memory has been honored every year since with a parade through downtown Seaside followed by an outdoor concert at Qualcomm Stadium (then called Padres Park). In 1978, Mayor Frank Zappa announced that he would move his family and live in nearby El Cajon for six months each year while he continued to tour America performing his music. After only two months living there, Zappa announced he would return to El Cajon each fall and winter so that his concerts could take place at Qualcomm Stadium without having to drive all the way out to San Diego Bay. He ultimately moved back into Seaside in 1986 but left again after one year due to health problems; this time lasting until 1998 when he finally died in Los Angeles from cancer caused by exposure to asbestos particles from his homebuilding days which had contaminated many adjacent properties along Highway 101 near where he lived.]] In 2007, tsunami waves threatened seaside residents with possible flooding if they did not leave their homes immediately following alerts sent out over local radio stations warning of potentially large waves crashing ontoshore next day[1]. Seaide is a city on the coast of Santa Barbara County, California. The population was 3,853 at the 2010 census. It is located in the center of Santa Barbara County, about 9 miles (15 km) south of downtown Santa Barbara. The name comes from Spanish, meaning "shore line." Seaide has been inhabited by various cultures for over 10,000 years. The Tongva people lived here for many centuries before they were forced to leave in 1821 by Mexican forces under General Francisco Vásquez de Coronado. After the landing of American troops on June 12, 1846, most of the local Native Americans fled or were killed. The first Europeans to visit Seaide were Missionaries Miguel Hidalgo and José de Arce in 1795. They established a mission here known as Nuestra Señora del CarmenMission San Juan Bautista which later became part of Rancho Santa Margarita after it was acquired by Captain Pío Pico in 1829. In 1861, businessman John Borah bought Rancho Los Olivos and developed it into a prosperous citrus ranch that supplied much of Southern California with oranges and other fruit trees during the early days of cinema. In 1939 he donated land near present-day Seaside to establish an open-air movie theater called The Majestic which still stands today as one of its original anchors along State Road 1 east of town. The Hollywood film industry had its beginnings in Seaide when Universal Pictures leased land from Borah on July 21, 1915 for $2 per day rent beginning production on October 15th that year's KeystoneCops classic comedy feature Our Gang! One hundred feet wide and eighty feet deep at its deepest point off shore this pier allowed access only through an underwater tunnel leading beneath Torrance Strait which led directly to Universal's lot across Harbor Boulevard! Today's Pier 82nd Street Accessway offers visitors a unique opportunity to walk underneath IMAX screens within walking distance from where their favorite films were made over half a century ago!
Seaside is a city located on the California coast. It was first populated in 1849, and became the largest city on the coast after its incorporation in 1871. Seaside has been made up of various districts throughout its history. The original district was called "The Promenade" and it covered most of what is now Seaside Heights. In 1865, the district was renamed "Beach District" and soon after, Seaside Heights was annexed into Seaside. The annexation created a new district which included most of what is now downtown Seaside Heights as well as much of Pacific Beach. In 1913, the Beach District was renamed "City District", and then in 1922 it was renamed again to "Seaside". In 1951, it became an incorporated city with its own government.
