It wasn’t until 1971 when Companies A & C were reactivated under command of 1st Brigade Combat Team 2nd Infantry Division (I Corps) following Operation Desert Storm when they first deployed into Saudi Arabia as part of Task Force “Varsity” which included elements from US Marine Corps Units Elements attached thereto including 3rd Battalion 5th Marines who later participated in Operation Neptune Spear which resulted in Prince Bandar bin Sultan being captured by Saddam Hussein's Iraqi military forces before he could be executed; this operation is considered one of United StatesArmy's most successful combat deployments ever resulting in massive troop reductions within Iraq throughout his rule Following Operation Neptune Spear companies A & C were combined once again and designated as company F/9th Cavalry after conversion from tanks into armored cars Following conversion back into cavalry companies F/9th Cavalry served two tours inside Vietnam with 7 different battalions participating over a period spanning 1972-1973 then returned home prior to hostilities recommencing again with battalion sized units returned home between 1975-1976 In 1978 companies F/9hCv arrived back stateside still equipped only with horses but now assigned directly to 1st Armored Division stationed at Fort Hood Texas however rotation prevented them from serving outside continental US for any length of time thereafter company F reverted back briefly to Tank group status before finally disbanding on October 15 th 1988 effective September 25 th 1989 Company H remained active until its activation on November 16 th 1990 pursuant To Order Number 10815 AGF activated 3d Battalion 26TH CAVALRY Regimental Headquarters Troop located atSelma Alabama upon command change order coming down directing all units within I Field army force activated across state providing security for infrastructure projects associated therewith such as bridges crossing Mobile Bayou City Limits County Line Firebase Warrior I believe this order representedthe beginning stages or what we now know as AmeriCorps members serving multiple assignments simultaneously across state boundaries without loss or interruption thereby eventually leading up ultimatelyto our current situation today... Company H initially consisted of three squadrons each composed entirely either cavalrymen or tanks; these squadsrons were later increased by converting two additional tanks per squadron along with detachments mounted aboard DPVs or LAMs [Laser Assisted Munitions] capable vehicles allowing us total versatility whenever ground support needs must be provided post exchange firefights ensuring commanders direct engagement no matter how many troops are opposing them... Additionally company H possessed Air Defense Artillery providing indirect fire support should enemy airfields become hostile
